Rumour Mill-Clarets Boyd by Posh George?

The Sun today suggests Clarets boss Brian Laws is set to put in a £2 million bid for Peterborough winger, George Boyd.

Boyd joined Posh from Stevenage Borough in January 2007 for a Conference record fee of £250,000.

Nicknamed 'The White Pele' by Stevenage fans, Boyd can play in a number of positions but is predominantly a left winger. He can also play in attack or just behind the strikers.

Championship side, Middlesbrough put in an offer for Boyd in this year's January Transfer window but the bid was rejected.

Nottingham Forest signed the player on loan in March 2010 until the end of the season.

Boyd has now returned to Peterborough with the club now in League One following their relegation this season.

I would be very wary of this one. The Sun state he is being lined up as a replacement for Steven Fletcher and that Boyd is a striker. Well he can play up front but surely it's his ability on the wing that would interest us the most if the rumour is true. He does sound a useful player though and scored 12 goals for Posh last season!!

Now thats the signings we want to be looking at instead of the 30+ ones.

I agree his ability on the left wing is where we need to strengthen although £2 million strikes me as a lot of money for somebody who only cost £250k, I would have thought we would have tested the waters with a bid around a million mark and looked to see where we were at?

Too much money but worth a punt at maybe around below 1 mill for a player who has not done it yet for lower Div clubs but for a problem area and the right age maybe.

Sounds a bit pricey, and can't say I have heard of him really!
