Comments received from those who participated in the 2009/10 Premier League prediction league were generally quite positive and for this reason, we have decided to run a World Cup Prediction League.
Due to the quantity of games in such a short period (64 games in little over 4 weeks) it is not really feasible to predict all the games. I am sure many of us would get bored doing this and keeping track of the scores would be an absolute nightmare!
I have therefore decided to run the predictions as follows:
All Group C Games - This is England`s group.
All Knockout games which could include a team that has progressed from Group C. (For example if USA & England progress from Group C to play Germany & Australia - we will predict these results. We will then predict the Quarter Final game which includes the winners of these games. And so on.)
This will provide a total of either 13 or 14 games to predict, depending on how teams progress.
Scoring will be as per last season`s Premier League Prediction League and scores after 90 mins would be the result taken.
For those unfamiliar with the scoring system, this is as follows:
Correct Scoreline - 3 points
Correct Result + GD - 2 points
Correct Result - 1 point
Incorrect - 0 points
Their will once again be a prize for the winner(s) with details of this to be confirmed nearer to the start of the tournament.
Can we defeat current Prediction League champion Bigclaret or will he again be the man to beat?
Please could anyone interested add their name to the bottom of this article so that we can assess how many participants we are likely to have. You can also register in our special World Cup forum if you so wish by going to this thread:
