Rumour Mill-Nigel Pearson is Star Turn for Clarets

Rumour Mill-Nigel Pearson is Star Turn for Clarets

Burnley could be ready to move for current Leicester City manager, Nigel Pearson if Brian Laws fails to keep the Clarets in the Premier League.

Who says so? Well the Daily Star are the one's stirring things today and trying to upset the applecart and undermine our current gaffer.

The Daily Star believes Leicester boss Pearson is facing an uncertain future at the Walkers Stadium and that he has been frustrated by long, drawn out negotiations with Foxes' chairman Milan Mandaric

Pearson, now 46 became Leicester manager in June 2008 guiding the club to promotion to the Championship as League One Champions.

He has previous experience as a manager at Carlisle United and Southamptom. He was also caretaker manager in between these two appointments at West Brom and Newcastle. The former Shrewsbury, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough player was also confirmed as assistant coach to Stuart Pearce, the England U21 team manager, until after the 2007 European Championships and indeed was in charge of one game as caretaker co-incidentally the first game at the new Wembley in March 2007.

It is thought that he would be offered a new deal at Leicester as a reward for their promotion but things have clearly dragged on so much it would appear Pearson is running out of patience.

This season Leicester have also done pretty well with the club currently 5th in the Championship table with a chance of reaching the Play-Offs.

If there is any truth in this rumour, which seems rather doubtful, all bets would probably be off if Leicester got promoted with the Clarets going in the opposite direction.

The paper goes on to say that Burnley would only have to pay £300,000 in compensation to prise Pearson away from Leicester.

These sort of rumours do nothing but undermine our survival chances and you often wonder what source they have got this information from assuming they haven't simply made it up.

Oh well, it makes an interesting debating point so don't shoot the messenger!

Wonder if the club will scotch these rumours or just ignore em? Gawd I'll be glad when this season is over and we know our fate. If we are down we need to know one way or the other quickly if the Board still have faith in Laws. The longer it drags on the less chance we will be able to get in the players we want for next season. I wish the club would stand up now and categorically state that Laws will be staying if indeed that is the case come-what-may.

If Mandaric hasn't yet renewed with Pearson after an excellent season for the Foxes, does this tell us something about Mandaric? Like Redknapp he's due back in court at some point on charges relating to transfer deals at Pompey. I think he still owns some land down there... or was that one of Pompey's other 64,000 owners this season? Who knows what's going to come out in the wash? And should it make us wonder whether all soundly financed at Leicester these days? Who knows anything any more? My Star gazing continues to say Laws will remain Bfc boss till at least the 10th game of next year.

So CP you don't think Laws is going to take the Club forward I had this discussion with Tmp this morning, cannot understand why you let someone bring players in spend whatever money is in the pot and then sack him 2-3 months into the new season.

Take notice of the media at your peril. Quote "if you don't give us a story we will make one up". They write s***e and are s***e. Remember, their success is determined by how many papers they sell not their truthfullness.

Fedup - fair point, but I reckon that, after last summer's hit and miss shopping with Susan, Kilby and Flood want someone in charge who'll bring in players that the Board and Brains Trust want, not what someone they've never spoken to before next month tells them they should want.

What a difference a year makes, this time last year the story we were all talking about was would we make the play offs and who would we prefer in the play off and papers writing reports on how well little old Burnley had done.
