Burnley could be ready to move for current Leicester City manager, Nigel Pearson if Brian Laws fails to keep the Clarets in the Premier League.
Who says so? Well the Daily Star are the one's stirring things today and trying to upset the applecart and undermine our current gaffer.
The Daily Star believes Leicester boss Pearson is facing an uncertain future at the Walkers Stadium and that he has been frustrated by long, drawn out negotiations with Foxes' chairman Milan Mandaric
Pearson, now 46 became Leicester manager in June 2008 guiding the club to promotion to the Championship as League One Champions.
He has previous experience as a manager at Carlisle United and Southamptom. He was also caretaker manager in between these two appointments at West Brom and Newcastle. The former Shrewsbury, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough player was also confirmed as assistant coach to Stuart Pearce, the England U21 team manager, until after the 2007 European Championships and indeed was in charge of one game as caretaker co-incidentally the first game at the new Wembley in March 2007.
It is thought that he would be offered a new deal at Leicester as a reward for their promotion but things have clearly dragged on so much it would appear Pearson is running out of patience.
This season Leicester have also done pretty well with the club currently 5th in the Championship table with a chance of reaching the Play-Offs.
If there is any truth in this rumour, which seems rather doubtful, all bets would probably be off if Leicester got promoted with the Clarets going in the opposite direction.
The paper goes on to say that Burnley would only have to pay £300,000 in compensation to prise Pearson away from Leicester.
These sort of rumours do nothing but undermine our survival chances and you often wonder what source they have got this information from assuming they haven't simply made it up.
Oh well, it makes an interesting debating point so don't shoot the messenger!![]()
