Stoke Home Game Now on Wednesday

Snow and icy conditions in the North West last month put paid to our game against Stoke City at Turf Moor originally scheduled for Saturday 9th January.

The game would have been an intriguing one if played back then since we were in the middle of a managerial upheavel with Owen Coyle having just left for Bolton taking second-in-command, Sandy Stewart with him.

Steve Davis and Phil Hughes were due to be in charge as caretakers which would have been interesting considering that both followed Coyle to Bolton a couple of days afterwards.

It would probably have been the worst time to play anybody that weekend to be honest with the club, staff and players reeling from the Coyle departure.

The match was finally rearranged for Tuesday 9th March but Stoke City's progress in the FA Cup has necessitated a further change to the fixture.

Stoke beat Manchester City 3-1 in extra time in the FA Cup 5th round replay at the Britannia last night and will now face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals on Sunday 7th March.

In order to give the Staffordhire club some breathing space, it has been decided to put our game against them back 24 hours to Wednesday 10th March. The 7:45 pm Kick-off time will remain the same.

I don't really understand this one, the quarter final dates have been known well in advance so why put the fixture to Tuesday night when there was always a chance this could happen with Stoke still in the FA Cup at the time? It's not rocket science is it? Just go for Wed night in the first place and ignore Tuesday

This is a disaster for me, I have arranged something I will struggle to unarrange without it costing me serious cash. Truly gutted.

Sorry Vin but I am really happy now as its brilliant news for me, I was really struggling to swap my shift on the Tuesday so I could go to the match. As that week I am on lates all week however Wednesday I am on training all day in Preston, so will not be doing the late shift and will get back about 7pm from Preston and onto the game.

Doesnt make a major difference to me. Still a pain getting to Burnle from Sheffield after work!

Bit of reorganisation for me - travelling up from S. Wales. Anyone know of a good pub quiz on Tuesday night?

Chuffed for you sheclaret, I am awaiting a reply to see what it is costing me to cancel my other engagement! I have of course ploughed in and cancelled it and so am at the game, all that I need to know is how much I need to win off Mr Ladbrookes to recover losses! Carlisle first goal and 2 -1 may have to be my banker!

Makes no odds to me this one, either way just means a 180 mile trip up and stay overnight at Mum's!!

Vin I'd put a different bet on if I were you!! although unlikely to win anything with that bet, if you did it should be a good little earner!!
