Rodriguez on Target in Barnsley Debut

Jay Rodriguez was released on loan to Barnsley for a month this week. He signed on Monday before the 5pm January transfer window deadline and went straight into their squad to face Preston at Deepdale last night in their Championship clash.

The Tykes had an impressive victory beating Preston 4-1.

Rodriguez was named on the bench for this game and did not come on until the second minute of extra time with the score already at 3-1.

Two minutes later though the score was 4-1 after former Claret striker, Andy Gray squared the ball to Rodriguez for a simple tap in. So a short but impressive start for Rodriguez on his Barnsley debut and that will do his confidence a power of good after returning from a long spell out with a broken ankle.

Two of our former players were also involved in the Barnsley goals last night. With the score at 1-1 Preston's Michael Hart deflected a header from our former defender Stephen Foster into his own net to put Barnsley ahead.

Andy Gray then made it 3-1 after controlling a long upfield punt to shoot and score.

My future father-in-law is a Preston fan. He was not happy to receive a text from me singing super Jay! Well done Jay lad!

Why did Robbins wait till stopage time to bring him on.
Grimsby Claret
Maybe he will now get more of a game. I know he is a super sub but stoppage time is a bit daft.

I hope he keeps scoring then gets a run for us when he gets back. Oh and I hope he keeps asking Gray, "So good move to Charlton?" Up the clarets.
