JayRod and Lund Out on Loan

Burnley boss Brian Laws has allowed young striker Jay Rodriguez to join Barnsley on a month's loan.

Rodriguez moves to the Championship club for the chance to gain further valuable first-team experience ahead of a return to Turf Moor for the run-in to the season.

'It's important for Jay to play some first-team football,' said Laws.

'I think he's got a fantastic future and I think he still has a part to play this season.'

Rodriguez, who recently returned to action following four months out with a broken ankle, has been restricted to just two Carling Cup appearances for the Clarets this season - including one as a substitute against Barnsley.

The 20-year-old, a product of the Clarets' youth system, scored five times last season, including big cup goals against Tottenham, Fulham (right) and Queens Park Rangers and the goal of the season in a 5-0 league win over Nottingham Forest.

Mid-table Barnsley have seven Championship fixtures in the next month.

And Rodriguez could make his debut for Mark Robins' side against Preston at Deepdale on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Jonathan Lund, 21, has joined Rotherham on a month`s loan.

Both sensible moves. Unless there is any late news or some of our fringe players move up to Scotland where window doesn't close until 12 midnight it looks like we can now relax. Some of the European windows are also still open in Italy,France & Spain

Great news, looks like sensible signings to strengthen the squad and keeping experienced players. Mr Laws is looking good, without spending a fortune the future is looking very much brighter. With a little better luck survival appears very much a yes yes.

Good move for the loan lads hope they get some first team action.

Unless our first team 'keeper gets an injury, I can't see Lund getting into the side tbh

I hope Jay Rod gets a few games for Barnsley as for Lund I think he will be behind the two Rotherham keepers so I don't think he will play any games, Good luck lads

It looks as if we got through with our main men still at Turf Moor. I'm still recovering from the effects of the rumours linking Eagles and Mears with notlob.

An excellent day with shrewd reinforcements to what is already a good squad. Rodriguez will benefit greatly from match practice after his injury and should return just in time to help us consolidate our mid table position. You're not wrong cornwall, the future is bright and I've already got the shades on.

Excellent business from Laws - he has strengthened in our weakest areas - unlike Coyle who just seemed to buy forwards - and sent out on loan the ones who need games. I would have liked Guerrerro (or however it's spelt!) to go out on loan too. Coyle got him when we have a surfeit of wingers so he has no chance to show what he can do. Like the sound of Cork - we have needed a good attacking midfielder for ages. Six in, nobody out - as I said the financial crisis has been great for Burnley. Couple of years ago Nugent would have been snapped up for 3 million as 'just in case' player. Now nobody can afford it even though Pompey were desperate to sell. This will be more and more in our favour. Up the Clarets!!

Firstly Welsh please can you get some Claret and Blue tinted glasses, better than rose tinted ones; ). Secondly I may be wrong but didn't Jay go out on Loan previously and came back and made it into the team to score those important goals. If so he may just do the same come close season.

ozjean Guerrero (Or however it is spelt) is only on loan with us and so we cannot then send him out again.

Well they say the darkest hour is before the dawn!!!! We have all had our hearts ripped out by that giant plonker Coyle only a few short weeks ago. Yet, there seems to be a definate change in attitude now that Lawsy has done his work for January. I am confident the boys can do this. Get on board, should be a hell of a ride. UTC!!!!!!!!!

Yep, there is a positive feel about the signings now all they have to do is deliver! Amazed that Bolton have finished up with just three signings with two of them being loans (Wilshere, Weiss) plus someone else they nicked off us (Stuart Holden). What happened to all those megabucks that Bolton were going to give him? Laughable

You are right sheclaret - Jay Rod did go on loan to Stirling but I think this may have been the season before last. I only see it as a good thing that these lads go out and loan. If they get to play - great, good experiance for them. I would also argue that it will help character build, settling into a new environment, bunch of lads etc.

But if I get Claret and blue tinted glasses sheclaret, all I'll be able to see is ten pairs of shorts weaving in and around the opposition, and then all floating back to our own half after scoring .

Radders seems to spend a lot of time on this board considering he's never heard of our players. Am still not sure Jay Rodgz is Premier League standard though, in fairness, his injury means he hasn't had a chance to show what he can do. This loan might allow him to get a few games and come back stronger next year.

I think our Radders is a floating neutral trying to up his post count so he can win the Members League Monthly Title and get some money! Seen him post all over the shop. Agree with you over Jay Rod but that applies to most of our team in terms of Prem league standard in all honesty!

True that - In terms of Jay Rod, I think our promotion has come to early ( I think that was a comment from Barnsey and I agree)

Yep he did, scored 4th late on in extra time as Barnsley thumped Preston 4-1 at Deepdale. Andy Gray got one for Tykes too!
