We Get Nugent Back!

We Get Nugent Back!

Portsmouth have agreed to extend David Nugent's loan to the end of the season.

Nugent had returned to Fratton Park after his loan expired following the Bolton game last Tuesday night. Sky Sports reported he was training with his Pompey team mates on Friday ahead of their Manchester City clash at Eastlands yesterday. In the end he was not named in their eigthteen.

Brian Laws had always made it plain he was keen to extend the loan and his persistence seems to have paid off despite Portsmouth dragging their heels and refusing to make a decision.

It had been thought we might have lost out especially with Nugent back at Portsmouth and there was always a fear he could be sold to make some money for the financially stricken club.

Thankfully this saga is now at an end and hopefully Nugent will be able to now concentrate on helping Burnley FC avoid the drop before making a decision on his long-term future in the summer.

I'm happy. Some people don't rate him, fair enough, but I still think he's really talented and only a matter of time before he starts to put them away. Let's hope that Fletcher's stunning goal is the first of many for all our strikers.

Dont know what to think, David Nugent may feel more settled now and may recapture the type of form that made him a 6millon rated player, lets hope & pray so

Looks like that's the end of plan B, i.e. going in for Hulse? Let's hope Nugent can start scoring some goals for us and keep us in the promised land

Just wonder if Laws will still be after another striker before window closes in three hours time eg Hulse loan? Yeah I think I am happier having Nugent back, just wonder if all this uncertainty has affected his performance? He now has a chance to ditch the smirking, get his head down and start scoring

Speculation over! Hope the lad settles down now and regains some form. I feel (hope) he has more to offer than we have thus far seen.

Laws and Bfc said over the w/e that another striker would be coming in IF we didn't sign Nugent. Better the devil we know? Attention now shifts towards a midfielder, I reckon.
