Rumour Mill-Finger on the Hulse?

Rumour Mill-Finger on the Hulse?

Brian Laws is believed to be interested in bringing 30 year old Derby County striker Rob Hulse to Turf Moor on loan.

It would appear the Rams have turned the idea of a loan down but they could be tempted by a cash offer to make a move permanent.

The Mirror believe the Clarets want to follow the loan option with a view to a permanent deal in the Summer.

It is possible Hulse is on Burnley's radar as a contingency in case a loan extension for David Nugent can not be agreed with financially striken club, Portsmouth.

However the Mirror believes our interest stems from the fact we could be about to release striker,Steven Thompson and allow him to go QPR on loan for the rest of the season.

Hulse signed for Derby from Sheffield United in July 2008 for £1.75m and has previously played for Crewe, WEst Brom and Leeds United.

There is no doubting the strike power of Hulse and he scores on average one goal in every three game which included his last one in their 1-0 home victory against local rivals Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

I heard this rumour in the pub over the weekend but I sense this might just be Plan B if the Nugent thing falls through. He looks a more natural goalscorer than Nugent to me though

Fair enough if he's a goalscorer. Why are Derby letting him go though?

Agree with TMP - possible contingency plan this. Not a bad player though not exactly one for the long term future. Reckon there will be a lot of rumoured comings and goings today. Hopefully Nugent won't be coming back to Burnley.

WelshClaret - Derby's finances are very poor, and Nigel Clough is managing a long-term rebuilding programme, for which he said - in their programme when we visited last year - Burnley is a model. Keep the wage bill appropriate, both to now and what might happen in the future (good and bad), don't overspend, be ready to turn profits in the transfer market if you have to, encourage young players, and provide a sustainable platform on which you support managers for several years. The trick for Nigel will be managing to get the finances back on an even keel (a) before they drop down another division and (b) before Derby fans demand the blood of yet another manager. Can anyone name all the Derby managers of the last 5 years? I would have to ask my Ram relatives, and they were struggling when this question came up at Christmas.

Nugent Has realy haked me Off he has had his chance to come to Burnley, Lets face it he was not featured in their 18 player squad this weekend, so what are we chasing him for. Harry rednap is a good judge of players character and it says it all that he did not play him. He could have had a chance to play, Yes on a lesser wage at burnley but Nugent & his agent have blown it. Hulse is a better centre forward any way

Interesting this one, it does sound like a good plan b, as I think Nugent will remain at Pompey (becoming the Remco of Pompey). If my memory serves me correctly I think he has scored a few goals against us.

I like Hulse a good poacher looks likely this deal will be dead in the water now we have Nugent for the rest of the season?
