Clarets International-Bikey Back Soon

Cameroon lost 3-1 in their African Nations Cup Quarter Final match against Egypt in Benguela, Angola tonight. Cameroon scored first after 26 minutes but Egypt equalised 11 minutes later and the score remained 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes.

Andre Bikey came on from the bench in extra time but the Pharaohs of Egypt scored twice through Mohamed Nagui and Hassan to claim a place in the semi-final against Algeria on Thursday.

The result means Bikey will now head back to the UK and could be in contention for a place in our home game against Chelsea this Saturday.

Will be interesting to see what Laws makes of Bikey and should he play him what position he will get! Duff & Edgar are playing well enough in centre of defence and that should be sustained unless they have a mare against Bolton tomorrow night. Midfield? What do you reckon in or out?
turfmanphil
That's good for us. Gives BL chance to evaluate another playing member and enhances his choices. I'm not expressing my opinion of Bikey one way or t'other by saying that though!
Brompton Claret
I think he'd be my first choice at centre half. Be interesting to see what BL thinks.

A 'free' signing as far as Laws is concerned. I think he'll be out if the hoped for perfomance of the season materialises tomorrow night.
WelshClaret
He drives me crazy at times, but I like him, I have thought he has been brilliant one game and then the next game....well you know. But I do like him and would try and find a shirt for him on Saturday, midfield or defence.

Sorry everyone have seen Bikey play several times he gives me the Jitters. He is big and strong, but good players in the premiership tie him in knots he then gets frustrated, because i dont belive he has the footballing ability and skill to get out of difficult situations. he is not a good passer of the ball, we need a clever good footbaling brain with speed and agility at the centre of defence not a big lump

Bikey has a good game when he plays at centre back. He is not a midfielder. He needs a good run of games at centre back. I would play him alongside Duff or Edgar. Although Carlisle is now fit so I'm not sure! I like Carlisle as well! Glad I'm not manager.
skutter169
Oh and I wouldn't pick Caldwell even if he was fit!
skutter169
On the basis of 'if you play well you keep your shirt' would it be fair to drop Duff or Edgar. Dont think either of those have done much wrong in the games they have played. I cant work Bikey out - I am never quite sure if he is in control of the situation, or whether he just thinks he is.
claretdale
Yep, I'd go with Duff and Edgar as things stand. Then it's up to them to play well and the others to be ready and take their chance when it comes. That includes Bikey who should only play at the back - he wouldn't be a midfielder in my team !

The chap that sits next to me in the JHU can't stand Bikey and slags him off from 1st whistle to last, you know the sort. It makes me laugh as I try not to slag the players during the game, I may hold my head in my hands a lot! So I have zagged and when Bikey hits a great cross field pass I go mental just for the fun of it, hence I guess my liking for Bikey may be clouded by my fellow season ticket holder who has a blinkered view! lol

I'M with Skutter, glad I am not a manager, at the moment I would stick to Edagar and Duff, they were great at OT. As for Bikey he either has a great game or he is woeful. I hate to admit it but I to (like the chap next to Vin) sometimes slag players off however I have found when I do this they tend to have a blinder of a game, so it has become a bit of a ritual so that they end up having a great game. Maybe I should slag the whole team selection off, then hey presto they will all play blinders and we will win every game!!

Same comment again i'm afraid, Bikey is a strange one - brilliant one game, lost the next. Like most people I'm a fan of him and think he is best at centre half. Streets ahead of Carlisle and Caldwell for me, he's as strong in the air as both and a little bit more agile too. Think Laws needs to bide his time with Bikey and see how Edgar and Duff manage. Plus not a bad player to have on the bench to shore the game up when we're beating Bolton 1-0 with 20 mins left!!

Although having written that I now realise he isn't available till Saturday...oh well against Chelsea then.
