Laws on Nimani-Close But Not Quite Yet

Laws on Nimani-Close But Not Quite Yet

It is now clear that Burnley hope to sign AS Monaco striker,Frédéric Nimani on loan until the end of the season with Brian Laws confirming the 21 year old is currently training with the squad at Turf Moor.

The Daily Mail jumped the gun this morning stating a deal had already been agreed but this is not quite the situation with Burnley now hoping to complete the transfer within the next 24 hours.

Laws speaking to the Official Site said:

'Quite clearly there is a huge interest and we are trying to do something within the next 24 hours. However, until he signs he is not our player and there's not much more we can discuss. We want to try to strengthen the team and while I am prioritising other areas, if there's an opportunity we can't miss then we will nip in'

Wonder why it's taking so long to sort out? Could be the financial situation with the £ and € now being virtually equal!

Some deals do seem to take a while. I've heard their wanting to put an option to buy in the contract could be wrangling over what fee to put in at end of season with the various Euro to £ problems!

The big French bloke of course CP. Jensen is a cracking keeper, ok a few mistakes but name me a goalie who doesn't make them. Hope the Beast stays and starts to enjoy the defensive protection that Laws will install. Am I being too optimistic here?

In a word WC yes. VinRogue - here's one for you. Would Nimani be a regular in the team or just a bolt on to it. Bolton may be split into bolt on here - but hopefully that's what they will be like next week as well.

Sounds to me like the Grant interest is not that great if Laws indeed ever had one and Stoke are also after him now. I think if Jensen stays or not will be dependent on whether Laws brings in any new keepers this window. I am with WC on this, Jensen is generally a very good keeper who makes the odd fatal mistake as all keepers do! He is better though with competition breathing down his neck and a good back four in front of him.
