Rumour Mill-Nimani In now for Serge Gakpe?

French media reports this morning suggest we have completed a loan deal for 21-year-old AS Monaco striker Frederic Nimani and are now negotiating with AS Monaco about a possible move for Togo midfielder Serge Gakpe .

It is understood Nimani was at Turf Moor yesterday for a medical.Burnley are said to have signed Nimani on loan until the end of the season with an option to make the signing permanent at the end of the season.

According to the loan agreement, Burnley would have to pay 4 million euros to secure Nimani in the summer.

Serge Gakpe (above) is a French born 22 year old midfielder who began his career playing with his local club UMS Pontault-Combault, with whom AS Monaco share a partnership.Gakpe signed his first professional contract with AS Monaco in January 2007 penning a three-year deal with the club.He has since added another year to the contract, which ties him to AS Monaco until 2011.

If the rumour is true it is not sure if Burnley have a loan or permanent move in mind but it is probably the former considering the player is reported to have caught the eye of Spurs, Chelsea and even Barcelona in the past!

Although born in France, he chose to play for Togo but has yet to get his first cap.

Gosh TMP. You are quick off the Mark. Only just heard this too. If it is true then it seems to be a change off tac by the club. Does this have anything to do with our new Chief Scout? If it is only good things can come from it!

Wonder whether the Euro will go up or down over the next few months? Continuing to think about money, I guess we all have to remember that, while Wado's goal earned us a reported 60 million, we didn't get it all in one go. I think the way that figure is calculated includes everything right through to the final parachute payment, in the event that a promoted team gets relegated first time up. And it gets bigger, if the don't. Meantime, I remain very interested in hearing about defenders, including any news of the young prospect from Ireland (Long?), who was not in the reserves line-up at North (or was it South?) Ferriby, as far as I could tell.

Welcome Stu, we try our best to be first!! ;-) Nimani discussions I believe were started under Coyle so nowt to do with new Chief Scout although he maybe got involved with later discussions and could be linked to the Gakpe rumour

All this is exciting stuff, I am really optimistic about the 2nd half of the season. I have one eye on notlob hoping they struggle to attract in a big signing.....I can't let go can I!!!!!!!

Very interesting. I know this is exciting news but the negative part of me is still wondering if it is a massive gamble to bring in players who have never played a British style before. Having said that, they will be largely an unknown quantity and this will make it more difficult for opposition to work out how to stop them.

Just out of interest - if the exchange rate for Euros dramatically changes before the summer will it stay at 4 million euros for Nimani? Is this news helping the poll to suddenly change more in favour of someone else rather than Sheffield wednesday?

According to Daily Mail today (Thursday 21st) it's a done deal for Nimani but still no official announcement-Burnley have signed French striker Frederic Nimani on loan, with an option to buy him for a club record 3.5million. The 6ft 4in France Under 21 international impressed on trial and has joined from Monaco initially until the end of the season.
