Reported Medical for Nimani at...Turf Moor!

Reported Medical for Nimani at...Turf Moor!

The France Under 21 international striker Frederic Nimani has been granted permission to move in January by his current club, AS Monaco and Skysports.com believe he is close to sealing a switch to Burnley.

They go on to say he is currently in the UK and is undergoing a medical at Burnley ahead of joining them on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

If the 21 year old forward and winger impresses at Turf Moor, Burnley could pay €4million (£3.5million) to sign him for the long term at the end of the current season.

If this report is true we will have beaten off the challenge from a number of interested Premier League clubs including Birmingham and thankfully it would appear Bolton Wanderers.

It had been understood Coyle whilst at Burnley FC had begun negotiations with AS Monaco for the player and there was a fear he could poach yet another of our targets from under our noses and bring the player instead to the Reebok. Early rumours this morning about a move to the Reebok appear to be unfounded.

Sky Sports refer to him as a powerful youngster, who has been likened to Emmanuel Adebayor! Steady!! lol ;-)

Can't say I'm thrilled with the potential signing of an unproven striker who isn't playing for his own club. I think experience is the way forward, someone who knows the prem and can pass on knowledge to our youthful strike force. Admittedly I can't think of anyone that would fit this bill and be within our price range...suggestions??

Sounds interesting. Lets hope he can hit the back of the net like Adebayor!!

There lies the difficulty O.D.E, the key bit being 'within our price range'. I can't think of any Prem players with the necessary experience who would accept such a salary (capped at £15k/week|) which is why I think we will be forced to accept second-best from the lower divisions and elsewhere via loans, all very frustrating! Just wondering now if there are any Championship players with Prem experience who might be willing to come?

Would we be likely to spend £3.5m on a player from overseas who has never played the 'British' way?

I am in favour of this 100%. We have to try something and he would not be a French U 21 for no reason. Lets face it Nugent and Patterson are pushing the bench warming brigade when we play one up top. I am not overly concerned that he is not playing regularly, nor is Michael Owen etc. Lets sign him and stick two fingers up to anyone else trying to get him!

The main concern that I have is how long will it take him to get used to the English game and in particular the pemiership. It would be a waste of money if he is not ready until next year - we need someone now.

Where do we find the money for someone "who's ready now"? Van Nistelrooy?
