Remco van der Schaaf Loan Agreed with Brøndby IF

Remco van der Schaaf has now verbally agreed an eighteen month loan agreement with Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF. It is understood however that the move will have to be ratified by the relevant football authorities.

If the deal goes ahead this will be the second loan spell for van der Schaaf at the club.He signed on loan for them in February 2009 until the end of last season. He picked up a shoulder injury whilst playing for them in a match against FC Copenhagen in May last year and returned to Turf Moor. He subsequently had surgery for the injury but now appears to be fully fit.

Speculation grew this season as to his whereabouts with Remco rapidly becoming the missing invisible man at Turf Moor. He had not been named in any of Owen Coyle's eighteen this season nor in the reserves.

The 30 year old central midfielder signed a three-year deal with Burnley in July 2008 but made just one first team appearance for the Clarets in their opening Championship game of the 2008-9 season against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough; a match in which we lost heavily 4-1. He had a handful of appearances on the bench but was an unused substitute. He went down with a mystery virus towards the end of 2008 and the loan to Brøndby IF followed shortly after.

The length of the current loan will take him up to the end of his contract with Burnley FC when it is likely he will leave Turf Moor and probably join Brøndby IF on a permanent basis.

Oh well at least the mystery is now solved and we wish Remco all the best and we are sorry it never quite worked out for him at Burnley FC.

Looks like Coyle was holding onto him for some reason and it's funny as soon as he goes, so does Remco

This is just a bizarre situation. As it was with Besart Berisha. Is it likely we will ever receive an explanation as to why he was so excluded from first team and even reserve team duties?

I wonder if he had a massive appearance fee?

Does sound like he had a lot of injuries, he had that mystery virus last season and I did not know about the shoulder injury he picked up in his first loan spell. Don't understand why club never mentioned anything though and it does all seem a little mysterious.

I blame Susan for everything, and wish Remco well.

Even beat the official site announcement with that one although they did suggest it was still subject to ratification by the relevant football I had to amend artcile(whatever that means!)

I think Remco must have disappeared down the Weavers' Triangle. Feel desperately sorry for Brian Laws now - barely a week into the job and this devastating piece of news lands on his desk. Very, very odd situation. Did they ever sell all those Remco t-shirts in the club shop ?

I wish him the best as just like Penny I wanted him to be given a chance. I can't say he was not up to the job if he never got a chance. Couch you are spot on when you say SuBo is to blame for everything, may I just add thats wrong in Claret n Blue. I am not going to blame SuBo for the worlds problems.......well not today anyway.

Wanted this to be a good signing. Maybe we should never sign anothe Dutchman, given the two previous experiences?! Maybe we'll never know what the issues were...

Could someone remind me who the two previous ones were?
