Rumour Mill-Striker Frédéric Nimani Link?

The Clarets may be interested in bringing 21 year old striker and winger,Frédéric Nimani to Turf Moor.

The France Under 21 International is thought to be unsettled at his current club,AS Monaco

It is however understood our interest could have started under our former manager,Owen Coyle and it remains to be seen whether new gaffer, Brian Laws picks up the baton if there is any truth in this rumour.

Nemani has found opportunities limited at AS Monaco (his only professional club to date) having scored 8 times in just 37 appearances since 2006. During his time at the Ligue 1 club he has also been loaned out twice, first to FC Lorient in 2007 and then to Ligue 2 outfit Sedan in January 2008.

Speaking about a possible move to the Premier League, Nimani said:

"I am not happy to be on the bench," said Nimani, "but I am 21 years old and I have time on my side.I have only started two games this season and played in eight games.
I have heard about Burnley and that would be a fantastic opportunity for a young player like me.I am waiting to see what will happen in the transfer window."

Birmingham City had also previously been linked with a bid for the youngster

What's betting he finishes up at Bolton?

Can't say I have heard of him and we have been linked with players on the continent countless times none of them coming to fruition yet!

just sen this on sky, so could be something in it, i like you have not heard of him, im back to my moaning about can we not buy some one we have heard of with a touch of class, instead we seem to be trying to stay in the best leaue in the world by taking chances on players who cannot get a game at there own club, ie nugent, who by the way is slowly winning me round. (very slowly)

Always very suspicious about this type of story. So many players are nearing the end of their contracts at this stage of the season and a lot of these rumours are started by agents who are just touting around trying to find the best possible deal for their player.

According to Sky Sports-It is unclear whether new Clarets boss Brian Laws would be keen on Nimani, but the powerful forward is hoping for a chance to move to England. "I am not happy to be on the bench," said Nimani, "but I am 21 years old and I have time on my side. "I have only started two games this season and played in eight games. "I have heard about Burnley and that would be a fantastic opportunity for a young player like me. "I am waiting to see what will happen in the transfer window."

palsdad - if we were to buy someone with a touch of class etc ( ie. someone already established) - How much are they likely to cost?
Claretdale
Claretdale I agree with your question to pd. Susan bolstered the squad and the wage bill with 8/9 signings as you have to include Long, Lund etc all now on the wage bill. Were they what we needed? Only if you are going to play them when others are out of form. I am losing patience with Nugents misses, I am starting to believe we need to sign the Clarets equivalent of Beatie, the January signing that scored the goals that kept them up last season.

Agree VR - definitely need someone to score goals. We hear too much about near misses. However, Nimani's goalscoring record is not great 8 in 37 appearances.

8 in 36 since 2006 ?

We were saying on the way home that it is the team near the bottom that starts scoring soon that will stay up - as VR says, a la Stoke with Beattie last term.

Nobhead Nixon in the Mirror today (Tue 19th):Burnley boss Brian Laws has flown in Monaco striker Frederic Nimani for talks - and could snap up the France Under-21 hitman on loan. Giant Nimani is out of favour at Monaco and Laws is open to the idea of increasing his options in his attack - with David Nugent's loan from Portsmouth expiring at the end of the week. Nimani has also been interesting Birmingham, but he thinks he has a better chance of making a first-team impact at Turf Moor.
