Bolton Confirm Coyle as Manager

Bolton have confirmed Coyle is now their manager and that he has signed a two-and-a-half year contract. The Offiical Clarets website have also stated that Burnley Football Club and Bolton Wanderers Football Club have agreed terms on a compensation package for Owen Coyle but do not give any details.

Coyle will take charge of the Trotters for the first time when Arsenal arrive at the Reebok on 17th January and I hope the Gunners absolutely stuff them.Good riddance to bad rubbish and thanks for nothing. You have broken all our hearts you miserable sneak!

(more to follow if any further details announced)

They believe the compo to be about 3m. Looks like we "won".
ClaretClaude
Also on www.bbc and on official bfc site where there's a stirring and spot-on message from Grezza. A chapter is closed. A new one begins. Come on!
Couch Potato
Someone has just texted me that it is 1.1 million...wtf?!
whentheballmoves
Two and a half years compared to a four year contract, just shows how much confidence they have in him then
turfmanphil
Phil the photo is ace, I am tempted to give it a 9 out of 10, but am deducting one for reasons that I will not disclose unless Nixon asks me.....
VinRogue
A two and a half year contract thats less security than he had at Burnley where he had a 4 year contract. Barry Killby would not let them get away with 1 million, Its a settlement between Clubs not in court so I should think 3 Million + is more like it.
Grimsby Claret
I was also surprised by the length of he contract? still no news on a fee oh well Bolton down Owen out!
8clarets8
2.5 years is a rubbish deal, really. Wonder if he'll last that long?
whentheballmoves
2.5 years. Coyle is just confirming what I've (ahem) beeen saying on here that he hasn't stuck at anything else for a long time.
Couch Potato
As per a text I just received from Barnsey - It is now time to move on. All our efforts now need to be concentrated on finding ( the board) and then backing ( the board + fans) the new man to ensure we retain our premiership status!
Claretdale
Coyle added: "I'm absolutely delighted to be back at Bolton Wanderers. what a joke
8clarets8
Agree with that 100% Dale, Coyle is history. The God is dead, long live the Deity..or summat!!
turfmanphil
You guys have to thank him for getting you to the Premiership at least!
Matt_Us
I hope it's 3.6 million - that will at least help the club. Wonder when we'll find out the "exact" deal?
whentheballmoves
He will be hoping for a top premier league management Job to match his ego in a couple of years, eg Top 4 club, Its not going to happen. But he will jump the bolton ship in due course if he is not pushed.
Grimsby Claret
I bet we won't Barnsey no doubt undisclosed fee?
8clarets8
Sorry Matt not in the mood for being the Voice of Reason. The Judas has let us down and everything he has ever done for this club is now a distant memory as far as I am concerned
turfmanphil
Well no doubt we will get the warped version from Nixon as to how much we settled for. Careful scrutiny of next years accounts might also give a clue. You know that bit that says 'All and SUNDRY-3.6 million!!
turfmanphil
Given that our next game is United away I reckon that means our new man won't take over until a week on Monday at the earliest.
RickersTwickers
Bolton today, Preston in 2012, Blackpool in 2014, Morecambe in 2016.
Couch Potato
I agree I bet it will be undisclosed, our club tends to work like that. We do things quietly and calmly with respect and not splash things all over the back pages like some I won't mention. However he's gone and I'm relieved. I back the board fully, BK is a legend and I fully expect them to make the right decision. Up the clarets!!
skutter169
"I told Owen they have 44m of bank debt but we have none," Kilby said."I think Bolton can say a lot of tempting things to attract Owen Coyle but whether they can deliver on them I think history will tell. But Owen wanted to work with a bigger budget and he obviously felt they had a better chance of staying up than Bur...nley. Owen's mindset is that he doesn't want to risk being in the Championship."
turfmanphil
Obviously jumped ship as a scared rat with no belief in his ability to keep Burnley FC up! Probably just as well the toerag's gone
turfmanphil
Owen Coyle Judas-da-da!!
turfmanphil
VR Nurse for tmp ;-)
8clarets8
glad you guys are taking it well,he reminds me of when mark hughes went to city. go get another manager quickly, and get behind him. Heres to hoping we play you again next season.
LHrover
Sorry to see Coyle join a club that's no better than yourselves. If it had been a big club (like an Everton or a Villa) then I'm not sure you'd begrudge him the move, but I think everyone in football is scratching their heads and going WTF? at this moment. Don't wish to make your pain any worse, but Sky have just reported that Gary Neville has just been cut from 50/1 to 8/1 to take up the managerial post at Burnley. Sorry, please don't shoot the messenger!
fifthcolumnblue
tmp you really are going to have to calm down fella, what with your ingrowing toe nail and you unmentionables playing up, Couch has asked me to send you some tablets and that cream you need. Anyway we will keep that just between us.....meanwhile Grezza became a legend today when he said "we played under him but played FOR Burnley" Cast your eyes back to day one of this and I wanted Grezza and Steve Davis to have a crack at running the ship, I really want Grezza to have a part in our future.
VinRogue
Even my Nurse has got angry over Coyle and her last insertion of suppositories hurt like hell
turfmanphil
As I have already said above - We need to forget about Owen. He has been absolutely fantastic for us and done a job that I dont think anyone could have bettered, but he has now gone! We need to concentrate on where we go next, not waste energy on what has happened.
claretdale
Worry not CD. We'll be with you, BK and the boys, all the way... when the ball moves.
Couch Potato
I just don't see the point of Coyne going to Bolton, perhaps he had a fall out with the board at Burnley and they have not made funds available when promised. I hope that part of the deal he was not to come back and try and poach any of the players and backroom staff. I am sure there will be a lot of decent managers wanting the burnley job. and with the match off, thats good news in trying to find a manager before the next match.
Buzz Lightyear
Makes you wonder Buzz but look at this killer statement from the sneak that he said only last month- "If money's their god, they'll be motivated by money, I personally was always motivated by football." You see the trouble is he made all sorts of these integrity/loyalty type statements and it makes his recent actions all the more upsetting for Clarets fans.
turfmanphil
Glad Coyle has left you. As you said the other week, great guy, great manager, with strong morals. Shame Alan Irvine has signed for Sheffield Wednesday as he would have been a terrific manager for you. Taken you down and kept you down. Who could you have now? Jamie Redknnap? Glenn Hoddle? Bahahaha!
PremiershipWolf
Yawn!
turfmanphil
Times&Telegraph both say we have accepted 1.5m. Times say' clubs agreed a compensation package of ABOUT 1.5 million.' Considering we wanted about 3-36m we seem to have lost out all round here if those media estimates are anyway near the truth
turfmanphil
Graham Taylor on 5Live Ars/Ever commentary said no-one in media knows how much it was.
Couch Potato
Probably just making it up knowing Bolton wanted to pay 1m and we wanted at least 3m off 'em! Oh right so they have comprimised lets go about half-way but not make it too obvious by saying 2m!!!!
turfmanphil
Going down, going down, going down. Without Coyle :D LOL
PremiershipWolf
Who is this loser? How old are you PremiershipWolf?
ClaretClaude
PremiershipWolf.... getting boring now, I've spoken before about this stuff. Will start deleting it all - without prejudice as I'm not Wolves or Burnley, just Vital admin. This network isn't a playground like Rivals used to be, it is for proper footie talk and some banter.
The Fear
Cheers Mr Fear :-)
