Jonah Signs

Burnley have agreed the signing of pacy striker Steve Jones from Crewe Alexandra on a free transfer.

The striker, who can also play on the wings will complete the signing when the transfer window re-opens, having scored 45 goals in 173 appearances for the Alex.

The swoop for Jones, comes fresh after the news that Clarets' stars Micah Hyde, Gifton Noel-Williams, Danny Karbassiyoon, and Duane Courtney were all placed on the transfer list today.

Jones, nicknamed Jonah, joined Crewe in July 2001, and has 24 caps for Northern Ireland.

Could be a good signing, electric pace, and certainly has the work ethic. Only scored 5 goals this season though.

Excellent signing, OK BPC I agree his goals this season not forthcoming, but check out his assists! Pretty high up I recall. Pace is key with the 'assists'! Looking good for him to link up with the likes of Lafferty and Gray

Has pace in abundance, and will likely prove to be a good signing. I think he will be refreshed having left Crewe after such a bad season. Just what we need, someone who can run with the ball at pace...

Yep, I am hoping we can get that dual-partnership going with Gray, if it works well, we could well get Gray into the 20s re number of goals mainly down to Jonah assists with Jonah himself on about 12-15. We really need this dual strikeforce, we have relied too much recently on a sole attacker to take all the glory

We cannot lag behind . He had some money with the transfer of Ade .The money has been wisely used and the player Jones will be a great asset to the club . At least we wouldhave two prolific goal scorers and they can combined their effortd to score as many goals as possible .

" he could turn out to be a very good signing- he has plenty of pace"

Sounds like a good buy. Good you got him free to.

SC certainly has an eye for players on free transfers. He was at Dean Court on our last game of the season scouting no doubt. Please please leave our players alone. You had our entire midfield this time last season, whats next, our entire defence?
