The Irish Youth Connection begins to pay Dividends

There appears to be a lot of activity by the Clarets youth scouting team in Ireland seeking out new talent.

We have just signed Republic of Ireland Under 17 international defender,Neil Yadolahi from Irish club, St.Kevin's Boys.

The Dublin-based 16 year old centre back has joined as a first year scholar and is pictured on the Official site with Owen Coyle and Director of Youth, Martin Dobson

Young Irish International Joins the Clarets

Burnley were also recently linked with a double move for up and coming Irish youngsters Kevin Long and Enda Stevens.

Long. a 19-year-old centre-half has made three first-team appearances for Cork City after captaining their FAI Youth Cup and Munster Cup teams during 2009.

Preston and Charlton were understood to be also interested in securing his services and it was understood Leeds had gone one step further and actually made a bid for him.

Enda Stevens is a 19 year old left-back with St. Patrick's at Richmond Park and the talent has already been trialed by Nottingham Forest, Hull, Stockport and Yeovil.

Not heard anything recently about our other targets but it's nice to see we are spotting the talent in Ireland. presumably this has something to do with Billy Bingham's scouting skills

Good to hear - If only 1 or 2 of the lads we bring in through this type of method are succesful - It would be worth it.
Claretdale
Funny how the club fail to mention Billy Bingham in all this, his name hasn't been mentioned for sometime. Hope he's OK

Todays news(Thursday 26th):Burnley boss Owen Coyle appears to have beaten off strong competition to land Republic of Ireland U21 international Kevin Long. Although there is no confirmation from the club the 19-year-old is expected to arrive at Turf Moor at some point on Thursday to complete the formalities of the move which will not actually be finalised until January. Clarets boss Owen Coyle has beaten off competition from Celtic, Charlton and Leeds United for the services of the highly rated defender. Long becomes the second addition in the week to the side after the Clarets also landed Irish youth international Neil Yadolahi.

All my instincts are that, Nugent apart, Coyle's window shopping is going to be looking to the future.
Couch Potato
Well we have the other Irish lad, Kevin Long on board now. Signed today for a six figure fee and he will be joining up with first team squad in Jan window-see new article up
