Vital Burnley Prediction League-Oct 09 Update

Below is the updated prediction table, which was completed after our fantastic point winning performance at Eastlands last weekend. Thanks Kev!

Not many points were added to the points tally this month. There was a general, understandable, unwillingness to predict the defeat at Ewood followed by a home defeat to Wigan (a must-win game pre-season) and the unexpected point at Eastlands. For many therefore, the only boost to their points was the home win against the unfortunate Tigers.

Programme collector is still the one to beat and has extended the lead over second place; plenty of time to go yet though.

As previous tables had a few errors (largely down to formula`s), I have devised this table going through each result manually. Although this is more time consuming, I hope that this will provide a more accurate result. I have also split the results to show how the points have been accumulated and therefore any errors should be easier to spot. If you feel your score is incorrect, please feel free to contact me.

Nice to see so many playing, but if you have not predicted recently or want to start, its not too late yet and remember you can win up to 50. You have to have played 50& of the league games to be in with a chance of winning and we have only played 12 of the 38 so far ( about a third)

Hopefully this is now completely acurate - but as I have said above if you think your tally is wrong - let me know.

Can I also ask that people make the predictions a little clearer - Some predictions are made in the middle of paragraphs which makes it a little more difficult when trying to log. Additionally, their were 3 or 4 occasions of people predicting more than 1 result for the same game ( without making comment to it being a revised score) - In these cases, I have taken the last prediction made to be the correct one.
Claretdale
Well played PC :-) I may have to change my tactics on this ie Burnley may lose sometimes
8clarets8
It is interesting 8c8 the way some people predict. Some people, such as myself, seem to be unwilling to predict a home win in case of jinxing the boys! :-) Other, such as yourself maybe, are unwilling to predict a Burnley defeat at all!
Claretdale
CD... in a dark and impishly humorous moment near the start of the season, I think that my alter ego posed the question where someone would be in the table if they predicted a 3-1 defeat in every game. Am I right in thinking that the answer, currently, would be second place?
Couch Potato
I think I do remember you saying that CP - erm, I work out that predicting 12 3-1 defeats would have given you 9 points so far ( Wigan 3, Stoke 2, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Rovers 1). Still, 3rd place would be a big improvement for me! :-)
Claretdale
I've given myself another vote of confidence. Time for a rethink otherwise I'll be giving myself the push. Before rising like a Phoenix to burst up the table in March.
RickersTwickers
Rickers - I think you appear to be doing a similar method of predicting to me and I think you are still to predict a home win! Keep it up! :-)
Claretdale
I'm firmly in the 'cant bring myself to predict a defeat' camp! Amazed Im 8th!!
turfmanphil
Could be a case of if the Clarets fall, they take you with them! :-(
Claretdale
Then they wont fall!! lol ;-)

I find looking at people's predications says a lot about themselves! some think they might curse us! like yourself Dale and i have to admit myself to that, I refrained from predicting in the later stages of last season! just in case i cursed them.luckily it worked obviously not down to me! ;-) But strange why we do that!
8clarets8
Whatever my brain thinks, The Hand of Couch Potato takes charge and types something else. Can we re-run the season?
Couch Potato
Sorry, rather than 'the hand' of Couch Potato, it should be 'the two fingers' of Couch Potato... need to work on my keyboarding skills.
Couch Potato
Crosspool is a member of the Sheffield Clarets and in the prediction league we ran last season, I think he predicted approx 40 defeats. Due to our success, He is instructed to do the same this season - No positive results!
Claretdale
Indeed I did Claretdale and I take all the credit for our promotion last season and our subsequent performance this season. Unbeknown to others, the whole universe does revolve around me and I am not known as the grim reaper for nothing! I shall continue avoiding jinxing the boys and see where it takes us (though I am amazed how I am in the top half of this league when the Clarets are in the top half of the Prem!).
CrosspoolClarets
Steve - You have correctly predicted the 5 away defeats and I assume, although I havent checked, the other correct prediction would be the defeat at home to Wigan! I also agree that your predictions were the reason for our promotion and, fingers crossed, our survival! :-)
Claretdale
I haven't got an exact correct score yet but lost lots of points by being one goal out either way ususaly through missed penalties, deflected goals or goals allowed or disallowed through bad offside decisions. Then again that probably applies to everyone else. Hoping for a late surge at the end of the season with a run of spot on results, getting them right through missed penalties, deflected goals or goals allowed or disallowed through bad offside decisions. Oh well....
Claretacchio
Just shows what a load of experts we are (NOT)!! lol. We are safe though, Lawro predicted a 2-0 Villa win!!
turfmanphil
The same as Barnsey and I Phil - Thats a bit worrying.
Claretdale
