Rumour Mill-A Case of Holmén Mayonnaise

Swedish international midfielder Samuel Holmén is understood to have caught the eye of Owen Coyle and it is rumoured Holmén could be a target for the Clarets when the next transfer window opens in January 2010. A transfer fee of about £800,000 could be involved if the deal goes ahead.

The 24 year old currently plays for Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF and signed for them from Swedish club,IF Elfsborg in August 2007.

It is understood that Holmén wants to play in the English Premier League and indeed he was linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer until it was clear they were going to be relegated. Celtic were also linked with him a couple of seasons back.

He is an attacking midfielder and indeed has a pretty good goal-scoring record having scored 8 goals in 56 appearances for the Superliga club in addition to two goals for Sweden in 15 games.

The missing man of Burnley, Remco van der Schaaf also had a recent loan spell at Brøndby IF last season and there will be inevitable speculation that he could be moving in the opposite direction as part of a player-cash deal.

Can't say I know too much about this guy, pity Sweden didn't qualify for the World Cup 2010, could have been some additional interest should he come to Turf Moor

I think we have to bring in players that can go straight into the team like Mears and Bikey have. If this is true who would make way? Wade?
VinRogue
Got to hold my hand up and say don't know player at all. I may have to disagree with you Vin I'd personally keep Wade in the side. However all 3 have had good games and games where they have been a bit under par.
sheclaret
Sorry SheClaret my thing above reads wrong. The ? against Wade is designed just to question who would be making way for a new midfielder. I marked Wade well yesterday and think I am missing McCann more and more...... At the moment I would keep Wade in the side and rest Alexander
VinRogue
Yea Alexander has had a couple below par games yesterday imo I thought he had a woeful game.
sheclaret
In my opinion we definitely have to rest Alexander, he is not the same man this season and I fear the Prem is a step too far for him at his age although I await to be proven wrong! We also have to accommodate Eagles now in the starting eleven in my opinion and we need something new especially in away games. The system and team selection is clearly not working at moment on the road

Don't we need defensive midfilders more than attacking ones?

I have put some videos up of him in the Rumour mill in the Forums section!
