Fair Play to Burnley but not Rovers!

All Clarets fans will be anxiously waiting for the big derby game against Blackburn Rovers this Sunday but we can already be heartened by news that we are considered to be far better at fair play compared to that lot down the road and indeed we are now the second best club in the Premier League for this factor.

Who says so? The Barclays Premier League Fair Play League match delegates.

These match delegates award marks at each Barclays Premier League game for positive play, respect towards opponents and the referee and behaviour of officials. You also lose points for red and yellow cards.

All this is taken into account and an average score worked out for each club.

The full list has been published on the Official Site but the good news is that the Clarets are second with an average score of 8.61 with Spurs leading on 8.71.

So where are Blacburn Rovers in all this? Well third from bottom with an average of 7.79.

We may have to be on our guard then on Sunday if we are not to suffer additional injuries.

The fact we are scoring highly on positive play doesn't surprise me. Many neutral fans have been complimentary about our entertaining, attacking style of play and they often contrast this style with Rovers who are seen as 'hoof and hope'.

Good news indeed, but I would rather see Burnley with three extra points in the Premier League table on Sunday and Rovers struggling once more towards the foot of the table!

Come on You Clarets!

Not to be scoffed at either, the winners get £30,000 at the end of the season. We are by the way also top of the Fans Fair Play League (Rovers 5th from bottom) Says it all!!

Just wondering is this also a spot for the Inter-Toto thingy for a chance into europe?

I think I can take some credit for this, as I predicted Kalvenes to be the first to 5 yellow cards of any defender in the Prem League, whilst also predicting we would have had two red carded central defenders by now. Following this impressive run of predictions I am seriously thinking of changing my prediction for this Sunday! lol

Yes I think your right Ruane at least it has been the last few years! be nice to get into Europe! thats if we don't automaticly get in there ;-)

Doesn't surprise me they are 3rd from bottom have always been dirty cheating b@st@rds. Although I do remember 2000 when Kevin Ball took out was it Damien Duff, they reckon there are still bits of him in Bob Lord stand.
