'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Al the Prof-Rest in Peace

Alan Boys, known to us all as 'The Prof' sadly passed away last Friday. Al the Prof was one of the pioneers of Clarets websites and in the days when the Club had an official forum he was their webmaster.

He went on to set up Clarets Mad and was their first editor before moving on to other website projects of his own. He is probably most famous for setting up UptheClarets.com (UTC) and it was during this time that I first got to know him well after being invited to work with him on the UTC project. I helped him run the forum amongst other things.

He took time out for a few years and eventually the decision was made to close UTC but in due course Al returned to the World of Clarets websites and for a short time helped me out on Vital Burnley as a co-editor.

Many Clarets fans will also remember his organisational skills and his talent for arranging fancy dress outings to matches must notably as Vikings, Arab Sheiks or as Father Christmas. That is how I will always remember Alan; having fun and cheering others up.

It was with utter shock to learn of his death via Facebook over the weekend and the world has lost both a true gentleman and a true Claret. I am absolutely gutted by this news and I am sure you will all join me in wishing all his family and friends well in these difficult times

Al the Prof RIP
