Cousin Will Sign, So He Says!

32-year-old Hull City striker and Gabon international, Daniel Cousin appears to have confirmed that he will be moving to Burnley for the whole of the 2009-10 season.

Cousin is currently out with the Gabon squad as they prepare for their two World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon during the International break. Speaking to the French press he is quoted as saying:

'My agent informed me a few days ago that the promoted team was interested. And I immediately said yes. This is a new challenge for me. I am happy to sign with Burnley. I really want to play and the manager seem to trust me. At Hull City, I felt that many things that happened were bizarre and illogical.'

There is still no official confirmation from Burnley FC that he has signed but it is understood they want to complete the deal before the transfer window closes at 5pm today.

If he does sign, it is interesting to note that he will probably be up against his new Clarets colleague, Andre Bikey in the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

Well it came via an unusual source but it looks on!

He won't leave Hull unless we sign another striker and the word round here is that you want us to pay half his wages, which we have no intention of doing.
lambrettaman
Why would you want to keep a player that is clearly peed off with Hull or at least Brown? You will be keeping a demotivated player and paying his full wages if not?
turfmanphil
A peed off played is better than no player at all and why on earth would we fund the wages of a relegation rival to the tune of £12k a week ?
lambrettaman
Because thats what clubs do? What you going to do pay £24k every week and then sub him? Why dont players want to come to Hull then? Is Brown getting a reputation you think?
turfmanphil
We will see very soon won't we lambrettaman, don't be surprised to see him playing in claret and blue at Anfield on 12.09.09. How do you know you have no intention of paying half his wages work in Accounts at Hull City do you?
sheclaret
Oh and by the way lambretta man I think the fact that there is the added financial clause in the contract that when we are still in the Premier Legaue next season Hull will get a bonus payment from Burnley!!
sheclaret
Looks like we gave up on this one and went for Nugent instead!!
turfmanphil
I would have gone for Nugent any day over Cousin!
8clarets8
Yep,think I agree. Just hope Nugent can get his form back. I think our play will suit him more than Pompey's but he still has to shoot straight!!
turfmanphil
The general theme seems to be that we're quite happy that Cousin isn't the new gent in the Burnley family. Talking to some Fulham fans earlier today and they were not particularly complimentary about Cousin. In fact, they said he was hopeless !
RickersTwickers
Hull striker Daniel Cousin picked the wrong moment to have a pop at manager Phil Brown. The Gabon international, who thought he was off on loan to Burnley, called Brown's tactics "bizarre and illogical" before the proposed switch fell through. (Sun-Wed 2nd Sep)

Oh eck up the creek without a paddle!

Will be interesting to see now how many games he plays for Hull this season! [Edited by turfmanphil]
