Rumour Mill-My Perfect Cousin?

The Summer transfter deadline will soon be upon us with the window closing at 5pm on Tuesday 1st September next week.

The media are therefore in overdrive as speculation mounts about last minute deals.

One such rumour in the People today suggests that Owen Coyle wants to bring out-of-favour Hull City striker Daniel Cousin to Turf Moor in order to bolster his attack.

The 32-year old Gabon International signed for Hull City from Rangers in September 2008 on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £1.5 million. The player though has since clashed with both his team-mates and his bosses at the KC Stadium and despite a bright start for the Tigers no longer appears to be in Phil Brown's plans. He was recently taken off early on in the 5-1 home defeat by Spurs a few days ago and appeared to throw a strop after refusing to shake Phil Brown's hand.

Cousin talking about the incident said:

"I have nothing against the club.I've got two years left on my contract, but I don't see why I shouldn't leave.I can't see myself returning to play in France because of my age. I just want to continue my career in England."

It is understood though that the striker is on a hefty salary certainly one that Owen Coyle is not prepared to meet so the speculation is that Burnley are after a season-lonng loan deal with Hull City contributing towards his salary.

The tall 6ft 1' imposing striker previously played for a number of French clubs including Martigues and Niort before moving to Le Mans Union Club 72. He then joined RC Lens in the summer of 2004 before joining Rangers in August 2007 after signing a three-year deal for a reported fee of £750,000.

Doesn't hit the excitement bells in my head! Dont really know much about this guy though and at 32 let's hope he has enough pace up front.

Sounds like an agent trying to make a link that the agent thinks is plausible, and with a club whose market moves have seemed to be watched by others. But can't see it myself. Based on what he said recently on Bfc site, Coyle doesn't think he has funds to spend... unless - in his poker style - it may be that he wants everyone to think he hasn't got any so he can make low bids. Was impressed with Fletcher at Chelsea.

Can't see it Coyle said he didn't want to bring in players on big wages because a) we can't afford it and b) one player being on big money and the rest on not as much would destroy the team feeling, which is the main thing that will keep us up!

Dont forget, this could be a loan with Hull forking out some of his salary during the season

This rumour has undertones of an agent trying to make some money. At the age of 32 we aren't going to see too many teenage kicks out of Cousin. If we're talking Hull players I'd much rather it was Jimmy, Jimmy Bullard.

Undertones? Very droll! Eat your heart out Fergal Sharkey!! ;-)

Never inspiring, the game passes him by. More interested in salary than playing Rangers did well finding a mug to buy him in Phil Brown, now they will pay the Clarets to take him that is how bad he is.

Sounds like summat has gone wrong with him at the KC, whether a loan to Burnley would change his attitude & performance gawd only knows but if Coyle wants him then I can guarantee he will be whipped into shape! You only have to look at Bikey
turfmanphil
Cousin’s agent Willie McKay yesterday confirmed that the Clarets had made a move for the striker. “I think they have put an offer in for a loan,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

Could be playing for Gabon against Bikey in the Cameroon team. The two African teams meat home & away in World Cup 2010 qualifiers over this International Break [Edited by turfmanphil]

He has an awful attitude and, although he'll score the odd goal, I think you'll be disapointed. Rangers warned us about him, and now we're warning him about you!

What have you warned him about us )

Sounds like a bad signing....whats wrong with Thommo ??

..or Rodriguez? Doesn't even make the bench these days

I would stay well clear i can't see him being any better than what we have already!
