Clarets International: Pato Worthy of Call Up

It will soon be the International break and a chance for a number of Clarets players to have a rest and a break from their hectic Premier League schedule.

The Clarets having already played and beaten two of last season's Top 5 teams League Champions, Manchester United and fifth placed Everton at Turf Moor now face a trip to Stamford Bridge this Saturday before the International break.

It does not get any easier for the Clarets either as the next team they face after the break will be Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday 12th September.

At least most of the team will be refreshed by the time they face the Reds but one player who probably wont be is striker Martin Paterson.

He has today been called up by Northern Ireland gaffer, Nigel Worthington as the Irish squad prepares for their two crucial World Cup 2010 qualifying games away to Poland on Saturday 5th September and then four days later against Slovakia at Windsor Park.

Northern Ireland are currently second in the Group 3 table with 13 points just two points behind current leaders, Slovakia but have played a game more.Poland also with a game in hand are just three points behind the Irish in 4th place with Slovenia in 3rd on 11 points.

Good luck Pato and please come back injury free.

Are England playing Croatia? Read somewhere about Wembley having to be dug up afer a U2 concert. Seems like sacrilege to me, digging up the turf on which we won there.

If the club were enterprising they should be on the blower as we speak asking for free sods to sell to the Clarets faithful!

Yep England v Croatia at Wembley Wednesday, 9 September 2009! Capello of course having been to Turf Moor for the Man U game will now give Blake a cap and name Elliott in the squad!!

Thoroughly deserved by Pato. He runs his guts off for Burnley. Do worry about injuries though. Get a hat-trick Pato and come back injury free.
