Rumour Mill-Nicky? Butt That Cant Be Right?

Burnley are reported to be interested in bringing current Newcastle skipper Nicky Butt to Turf Moor.

The 34 year old England International midfielder still lives in the North West and could be tempted by a move back to Lancashire after spending twelve years at Manchester United.

The News of the World believe Owen Coyle is ready to offer him a two-year deal with another chance to play in the top flight again after being relegated with Newscastle United last season.

Butt joined Newcastle in July 2004 for a fee of 2.5 million on a four year deal during Bobby Robson's tenure at St James' Park. He also had a loan spell at Birmingham signing a season-long loan in August 2005.

Another rumour doing the rounds is that we could be about to also sign a trialist, Alan Williams. He is none other than the brother of former Middlesbrough loan, Rhys Williams. Alan is a midfielder and is reported to have impressed Owen Coyle.

What do you make of that one then? Undoubted talent and great experience of Premier League but at 34 could he still hack it in top flight?

Smacks of paper talk to me, but who knows. The Williams one is interesting - where's he come from, do we know?

Yeah Butt, No Butt, Yeah Butt, but no Butt. Computer say no. I think this is more likely paper talk. The Williams connection seems more likely. I don't think Butt wouls justify the wages as I don't think he would feature that much and wouldn't be cover for Grezza which is what we need.
