'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's Hartlepool Away in the Carling Cup!

Burnley will face Hartlepool United at Victoria Park in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The game will be played on either the Tueday night of August 25th or Wednesday night of the 26th.

In the Carling Cup first round tie, League One side Hartlepool secured a 1-0 win against Coventry at the Ricoh tonight with Adam Boyd scoring towards the end of the first period of extra time. They hung on to defeat the Championship side and must now be relishing a Premier League team coming to their ground! Eat your heart out Jeff Stelling!

The Pools embarrassed the Clarets at Turf Moor in the same competition back in August 2006 coming away with a 1-0 victory. So revenge would be sweet but then it could be another banana skin just waiting to trip us up!

I have just sent an email to the Sheffield Clarets lot - Having never been, I fancy this one. Any other Sheffield ( area) clarets fancy it?

Thinking the same but not sure I can get up that far north in midweek! What do you think, good draw or banana skin waiting to happen?

Wonder whether Jeff could have a word and get this one on the telly ?

Rubbish - it's 1 of the away grounds I have already seen us play at. A banana skin and no mistake - we beat them 4-1 at home (after Payts came on and scored a 2nd half hat-trick [we'd been losing 1-0]) and then lost 3-2 away. We also lost 1-0 to them (at home!) when Wayne Thomas got sent off a few seasons back (was it SC's last in charge?)

Very pleased with the draw. I wonder what sort of team you will put out.

A winning one !

Can't see Coyle playing a significantly weakened team.

2000 loyalty points......I think in my system this game would attract more loyalty points than say Chelsea away in the league. However if its the Tuesday I can go....bring it on
