Coyle on Guerrero Loan

It can now be confirmed that Fernando Guerrero has joined the Clarets on a season-long loan as reported earlier today in this article on Vital Burnley:

Guerrero One Year Loan Deal Agreed

Owen Coyle speaking about his new exciting prospect said:

'Fernando is an exciting player for just 19-years-of-age and we believe he has unbelievable potential. We have agreed a loan deal, subject to an option to buy him.Obviously he is valued very highly by his club in Equador and if he comes in and shows us the quality we know he possesses I think he can go on to become a truly outstanding player'

The good news also is that he will not need a work permit due to the fact he holds a Spanish Nationality.

Guerrero has been given the Number 32 shirt for the season and will be good company for his fellow South Americian Hispanic-speaking teammate, Diego Penny.

Right then who's next? ;-)

For once i have no idea if or for that matter who we will be in for next? we could still do with a few more faces yet! whether we can get them is another matter.

I am delighted this is a loan deal as I thought paying for this lad could be a bit or a risk - However, If he has a superb season, the big clubs could start to circle - ie Amir Zaki!

If he helps us stay up and does it in style then it would be small price to pay if we then lost him to a money bags Prem side! At least we now have possibly another £2 million to spare to build the squad now before the Summer window closes.

The 'option' may mean that if we are willing to spend an agreed amount he is ours. Anyone know?

Gawd knows what clauses might be in contract, we might get first refusal for example

I too think a loan deal is the way to go - if he is good enough we will no doubt have 1st refusal, and if he isn't, not much of a financial loss...
