Guerrero in Town for Further Talks with Coyle

Owen Coyle is currently having further talks with 19 year old winger, Fernando Guerrero. The player has flown over from Ecuador and is currently in Burnley to discuss his future.

It is understood the club faxed over an offer for the player of £2 million to his current club, Independiente del Valle of Ecuador's Serie B last week. There is still however a requirement for the Club's President to agree to any financial arrangements and rubber stamp the deal. It is understood though that Burnley have met Independiente del Valle's asking price with Owen Coyle keen to have the player signed up in time for the new season which kicks-off on Saturday August 15th at the Britannia against Stoke City.

Coyle was of course impressed with Guerrero during his trial out on their US Tour and he played in both their matches against VC Fusion and Portland Timbers.

The Ecuador International used to play for Real Madrid Castilla, Real's reserve team and was on their books for two years between 2007-2009. After a loan spell with CS Emelec he joined his current club, Independiente del Valle earlier this year.

Looks like the deal is now even more cut&dried providing El Presidente doesn't chuck a wobbly!!

Hope he signs.....sounds a good player

Seems a lot of money to pay for a young lad who is unproven and may not settle - having said that - we could get a gem. Who would be a manager eh!

Guess there is always a risk, I think we have to view this signing as maybe one for the future in terms of potential. What I have seen on You Tube in the games he has played in Ecuador and for us against VC Fusion looks promising but then those teams are hardly Manchester United. Real Madrid must have also seen some potential originally as well and I guess we just have to put our faith in Coyle's judgement. Guerrero could be a very exciting prospect or he might turn out to be another Berisha! At least it looks like we might get chance to find out

LT Wed 5th Aug: The financial terms of a proposed deal are yet to be discussed with the South American’s club president, but should everything go to plan, Guerrero could be on board in time for Burnley’s penultimate pre-season friendly against Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock tomorrow night.

2 Million is alot for us but not a huge amount for the EPL. Plus if he was english they would want 5 mill. We need a left winger so hopfully he will fill the void. Then in a few years he will earn us some money.

He should settle too in the sense he has worked in Europe before having spent two years at Real Madrid although he wont be playing in an Hispanic-speaking country! Que?
