Clarets Trust recently announced that they had achieved their 2009 target of owning 100 shares in Burnley FC after purchasing another 11 shares. The news means that the Trust are now in the Top 10 of share holders (not counting Burnley FC Board Directors)
Each share currently costs £200, so the Trust have now helped the club financially by securing shares to the total amount of £20,000.
Clarets Trust Chairman, Peter Pike speaking about the news said:
Having just purchased another 11 shares in Burnley Football Club the Clarets Trust now holds exactly 100 shares in the Club. This was a target we agreed to at the AGM of the Trust in 2008. Without checking the latest position on the Share Register this should put us in the top 10 shareholders in the Club leaving aside those who serve on the Board of Directors.
Of, course the number is still small but with our special relationship agreed with the Club earlier this year and monthly meetings between the Trust and the Club it is another good move for the Trust. We now have a very good dialogue between us which is very much a two way thing. ie a basis of trust and common aims where we can both work together for the benefit of Burnley Football Club.
Our aim is to a be a positive voice for all supporters to ensure the success of the club both on the pitch and in the wider community of Burnley.
Our increased number of shares just before start of what will be a memorable and historic first season for the Clarets in the Premiership is a good time to further cement that relationship between the Club and the Trust - remembering that the Trust is very much a democratic voice for the supporters. I do hope that in the year ahead more supporters will join the Trust and that all existing Supporters Clubs will work in a positive way with the Trust
As Chairman of the Clarets Trust I am proud to see us continue to work together in this positive way with the Club. How great it is be on the threshold of season of almost certainly a full ground for every game. I am sure that the Trust like all Clarets fans will be 100% behind Owen Coyle and his squad in the new season ahead.
Chairman - Clarets Trust
Vital Burnley are also proud to announce that thanks to our posters using the site we have managed to contribute another two shares as part of the 11 shares recently purchased by the Trust. This brings our total to three shares at a total cost of £600.
Vital Burnley in conjunction with When the Ball Moves...Online are currently running their 'Hit the Site, Help the Club' campaign. Basically money is raised depending on the total hits the site gets. The more that posters and users of the site contribute, the more hits we get and the more money we can donate to Clarets Trust to purchase shares and therby financially help Burnley FC.
This message does seem to be getting across and Vital Burnley is becoming more widely known and used by Clarets fans. We have just had our best month ever in July 2009 and we are not yet into August. The hits have even passed January 2009. January is traditionally the highest month during the year mainly because of the transfer window activity.
You are all doing a great job and we thank you all for helping with our campaign. We could of course increase our contribution if we got more hits so please spread the word and try and get your Clarets chums to use Vital Burnley. What easier way is there to raise money for the club simply by pressing a few keys on a keyboard and having fun discussing the club we all love at the same time?
