Coyle on Guerrero

Owen Coyle has been impressed with 19 year old left winger, Fernando Guerrero and looks set to try and bring him to Turf Moor.

The former reserve player for Real Madrid Castilla is currently back in Ecuador with his club,Independiente del Valle but he did well out on trial with the Clarets during their recent tour of the US.

The Ecuadorian International impressed both during training and in the two games Burnley played out on the West Coast against Ventura County Fusion and Portland Timbers.

Independiente del Valle's President though is however currently on holiday so talks will not resume until he returns from his break.

Owen Coyle had this to say about the latest situation regarding Guerrero

'We've had a chat, that's the best way I can put it.As it is, the (club) president is out of the country. But when he gets back to us we'll know what the situation is in terms of what finance is involved in the deal, and we'll take it from there. He's an entertaining player, the same as the rest I have. He's a young lad with a chance. There's been a bit of dialogue but we need to continue that. But that's all it is at this moment in time.'

Independiente del Valle are understood to want £2 million for their pacy winger but no doubt the Clarets will want to negotiate and try and bring that figure down. We at least don't appear to have given up just yet though and the main thing is that Owen Coyle is keen on the player.

I do hope we can get this lad, he looks an exciting prospect

I'd like him, we need a left winger! He looks a good prospect and Owen likes him, so his attitude must be right.

In today's LT (Friday 31st July)-BURNLEY are set to focus their attentions on bringing Fernando Guerrero to Turf Moor, after missing out on Marcus Tudgay. Burnley are understood to have already faxed an offer totalling £2m to Independiente del Valle for Guerrero and are just waiting for the return of the club president to return from holiday to rubberstamp the move. The money saved on Tudgay’s decision to stay at Hillsborough could now be set aside for further summer signings.
