'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wes Will Be Hoping to Drive Jags.

Partick Thistle will complete the loan signing of young Clarets striker Wes Fletcher this weekend on a six-month deal.

Wes was born in Ormskirk and was originally on Liverpool's books before joining the Clarets in 2007 after being spotted playing for Lancashire.

The 18-year-old striker scored 26 goals at youth level for Burnley last season and was rewarded with a professional contract.

Wes will be hoping to impress at Firhill and get some valuable experience playing for the Irn Bru First Division club.

Jags manager Ian McCall, a close friend of Burnley gaffer Owen Coyle said about the deal:

'We hope he can come in and launch a decent challenge to get into the first-team.He has a short spell of time to impress, and if he can come in and show what he can do, it will be good for all of us.Hopefully Thistle can benefit from that and the boy gets a few goals, I am sure Wes will relish the chance to play regular first-team football.I don't expect the deal to go through in time to allow him to play any part against Airdrie tomorrow, but I am hopeful that he'll be involved when we play Kilmarnock in a friendly next week.'

Yes, MacDonald was indeed in the Falkirk team that got knocked out of the Europa Cup last night by Lichtenstein Cup winners FC Vaduz, who are back in the Swiss second tier this year. Go to www.football.ch in case you wnat to know more about Swiss footy! Anyway, good luck to Wes and Alex.

I go walking in the Alps most autumns. I got interested in Swiss footy when Thun played Ars in Champions League. Thun the town is even smaller than Burnley! I went to see them, and the ground has THE most beautiful sourroundings (lakes, mountains) but is tiny. Then I remembered Bfc played Lausanne Sport in the Fairs Cup, and Claret Chronicles advises they also played them in a friendly the year before. So I am going to go and see Lausanne this Sept when on holiday, and see if anyone there remembers us! They are in the second tier along with Thun and Vaduz. Will file a report in WTBM. Swiss national team is quite good these days. Senderos is back training with Ars after a year playing for Milano. Before that I am going to Wado's Bashley the day before we play Everton. But will I get to Stoke? My first Claret game was at Stoke, Matthews and Jimmy Mac playing for them.

Yep,hoping to get to Stoke! Gonna be hard getting tickets for away games this season, just hope I have ordered enough on Clarets Number in the past to get priority for this season. Wonder when Stoke tickets will go on sale?

Tmp, are what the rules for the Stoke mascot competition that's mentioned on the Bfc site? Are we too old to enter? I'd be happy to nominate you, if you return the favour another game. :) May be the best chance for a ticket? :(

There has to be a better way! Mind you would have been good for the Hollands Pie guy had they still been the sponsors. Shirt currently reads Turfmanphil 8.... to which I could add Turfmanphil 8..all the pies!! :-)
