Rumour Mill- Coyle to Sign Guerrero

Owen Coyle wants to sign Ecuadorian winger Fernando Guerrero according to media reports today.

The 19 year old made an impressive trial debut on the Clarets US tour this week against Ventura County Fusion.

In the Clarets 5-0 win, Guerrero assisted in one goal, scored with an header and was brought down in the box after getting the better of the Fusion defence. Fletcher scored from the resulting penalty.

He would have been a contender for Man of the Match though and looked lively throughout the game often whizzing past a bemused VC Fusion back four.

The Ecuador international left-sided winger, known to his mates as Nando, was originally on Real Madrid's books and played for their reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla.

Coyle has been tracking Guerrero for some time it would appear after seeing him in action for Real's reserve team.

Guerrero linked up with the Clarets in California this week on their pre-season tour of the USA and has been impressive in training in addition to the one trial match so far.

The winger who can also play in midfield was born in Quito, Ecuador and is the son of ex-footballer Jose Fernando Guerrero who used to play for Nacional of Quito. The family emigrated to Spain when Fernando was just a child.

Fernando Alexander Guerrero Vásquez, to give him his full name is a product of Real Madrid's Academy after signing for them in 2007.

He played for CS Emelec on loan last season after signing for the Ecuador side in December 2008.

Guerrero made his International debut for Ecuador on 21 January 2007 in a friendly against Sweden and now has two caps to his name.

Nando currently plays for Independiente Della Valle in Ecuador. He is rated at £2million by the club he joined after six years at Real Madrid.

Coyle could make an offer within days according to media reports.

Owen Coyle had this to say about the impressive starlet following the VC Fusion game:

"He`s a young kid with a lot to learn in the game. Certainly not the finished article. But he`s the type of player that I like. He`s exciting. We`ve got a few of them, but I like four or five of them."

Chris Eagles was also impressed by the young talent:

"He`s very good. I`m very pleased for him. He`s great to play with him. I appreciate the way he plays."

So what do you think yourself? Well we again put up two You Tube videos of the player in action for his clubs and once more in another, you can see how well he did in the VC Fusion game. Enjoy:

Must admit he did look impressive against VC Fusion but we must remember we have to imagine him playing against the likes of Man U, Chelsea and all the other Prem teams. Looks a great one for the future though although £2 m for a 19 year old looks somewhat steep

Looks like we might face competition from Hull to sign him now-Hull boss Phil Brown will look to sign Ecuadorian winger Fernando Guerrero from Independiente Della Valle. (Daily Mirror)

Begins to look like other teams don't bother scouting players any more. They just watch Owen! :(

He better move quick if he wants him.Don't like sound of this in LT-OWEN Coyle is poised to hand Ecuadorian hot-shot Fernando Guerrero another chance to shine on Burnley’s American tour before deciding on the teenager’s future. He is now set to be thrown another opportunity – against professional outfit Portland Timbers, who play two tiers above Fusion – in the early hours of Sunday morning. Guess its a fine balance between making sure and running the risk of him being snatched away

I thought he looked good, but as I said elsewhere, we shouldn't just start spending large sums of money because we've got it. He has made his international debut, apparently, which is good, but if he is so great, why is he down at their 2nd division level - hardly the best league in the world now, is it?!
whentheballmoves
I think he does look good, hes a the 2nd division level as they sent him out for experience, just like we did with J Rod. We do need a left winger and Owen likes to play with wingers. Eagles looked goog as well, best i've seen him in ages. Do think we have to bear the quality of the opposition. I don't think 2 mill is too much. If he was English they would be demanding 5!!!

I reckon he's worth a punt,just not sure about a £2million punt?

wow great article I hope he signs A.S.A.P

Ecuadorian winger Fernando Guerrero, recently linked with Hull, may be offered a permanent deal with Burnley following a trial. (Daily Telegraph)

Cheers! Glad you liked it,Kavie! Yeah, he looks an exciting player

I think a £1m plus add-ons for appearances will do it but I don't like the sound of the Hull interest. I suppose Wolves and Wigan will suddenly wake up and wade in with bids as well so we had better be quick off the mark. I hope we don't offer a silly price that is too low as well.

Well he had an OKish game against Timbers without being replaced last night so Coyle is now ideally placed to sign him if he wants him!
