Thursday's Rumour Mill-A Coyle £2m for Guerrero

Thursday's Rumour Mill-A Coyle £2m for Guerrero

Owen Coyle could be ready to pay £2m for Ecuadorian whizz kid Fernando Guerrero if you believe media reports today.

It was confirmed earlier this week that the club would be giving him a trial but now it looks like Owen Coyle may have more definite plans in mind with a view to signing the player.

Coyle has invited the 19-year-old left-winger to the Clarets' training camp in Los Angeles. The team fly out to California today in preparation for their US Tour and hope to meet up with him in the States.

Guerrero is currently at Independiente del Valle in Ecuador following six years with Real Madrid's junior teams.

The Ecuador international left-sided striker was on Real Madrid's books and played for their reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla.

Coyle has been tracking Guerrero for some time it would appear after seeing him in action for Real's reserve team.

The striker who can also play on the left wing and in midfield was born in Quito, Ecuador and is the son of ex-footballer Jose Fernando Guerrero who used to play for Nacional of Quito. The family emigrated to Spain when Fernando was just a child.

Fernando Alexander Guerrero Vásquez, to give him his full name is a product of Real Madrid's Academy after signing for them in 2007.

He played for CS Emelec on loan last season after signing for the Ecuador side in December 2008.

Guerrero made his International debut for Ecuador on 21 January 2007 in a friendly against Sweden and now has two caps to his name.

Here are some You Tube clips of the lad as well:

Look's like this is moving on at a pace if the Mirror is to be believed. He looks pretty useful though watching the You Tube footage

Pretty much a big gamble at £2million? i think i would prefer the money go towards Driver and Tudgay but thats down to Owen not me thankfully :-)

Might just be media gossip anyway and we are just giving him a trial first. If Coyle wants him though, who are we to argue?
16/07/2009 10:39:00
Coyle may be just doing it to encourage Driver and Tudagy and their clubs and agents to make their minds up or risk not getting any £££ from us. Or because he doesn't think those deals are going to happen. Or to check out his options before he goes back to Hearts and SW an ups his offer. Is Hamilton's McCarthy still in this picture too? Who knows? But I like the display of drive and sense of purpose from Coyle and the Board. Mention of which makes me mourn the passing of Ray Griffiths. A good Board coinsists of a lot more than the one or two guys who are most often seen in public. And Bfc Board has been doing expectionally well lately. Thanks for that Ray. RIP.

FC Twente have won the chase for Miroslav Stoch after signing the Chelsea teenager on a season-long loan. Stoch made five substitute appearances for the Blues last term and had been looking to move out on loan to gain further first-team experience. The Slovakian forward's agent confirmed Wigan, Reading, Borussia Monchengladbach and Besiktas, in addition to Twente, had been showing an interest. However, Stoch has opted for a move to Steve McClaren's Twente side where he will link up with another Chelsea player - Slobodan Rajkovic. Twente have been active in the transfer market this week and have also splashed out a club record to sign Bryan Ruiz from AA Gent. The Costa Rican attacker had been wanted by the likes of Anderlecht and Zenit St Petersburg, but has joined Twente in a 5million euros (£4.3million) deal. McClaren has also added Maccabi Haifa striker Ransford Osei to his squad on loan and finalised a four-year deal for South African ace Bernard Parker.

Thanks for that starginga not sure what relevance that is for us? unless this ends their interest in Driver?

£2 million STILL sounds like a lot for a 2nd division Ecuadorian!

Coyle was typically coy over the reports ahead of Burnley's flight to Los Angeles yesterday, but when asked about the growing Scottish contingent at Turf Moor, he cryptically said: "It doesn't matter if they're Scottish, Welsh, English or Irish, whatever they are ... Ecuadorian. If they're good enough to play we'd be interested in bringing them on board." When pressed on the subject, he added: "There are a number of players of different nationalities that we might be interested in. Whether we're able for someone to join us in America for a bit of training, then I'll wait for confirmation of that. But we're always looking to improve the squad."

Another Steve Kindon perhaps, useful left peg but the right is for standing on only. Also very direct. But I fancy a bit of balance - we already have some direct players and I would prefer to buy a shuffler, a player with vision and one who can make a telling pass, one to lose an opponent with a feint and a quick dart.
