Fernando Guerrero, Ecuador Trialist for Clarets

The Clarets have handed a trial to 19-year-old, Fernando Guerrero.

The Ecuador international left-sided striker is currently on Real Madrid's books and plays for their reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla.

Coyle has been tracking Guerrero for some time it would appear after seeing him in action for Real's reserve team.

Guerrero is expected to link up with the Clarets in California this week on their pre-season tour of the USA.

The striker who can also play in midfield was born in Quito, Ecuador and is the son of ex-footballer Jose Fernando Guerrero who used to play for Nacional of Quito. The family emigrated to Spain when Fernando was just a child.

Fernando Alexander Guerrero Vásquez, to give him his full name is a product of Real Madrid's Academy after signing for them in 2007.

He played for CS Emelec on loan last season after signing for the Ecuador side in December 2008.

Guerrero made his International debut for Ecuador on 21 January 2007 in a friendly against Sweden and now has two caps to his name.

Here is some You Tube footage of the lad as well:

Rather amusing being linked to players from Manchester United and now Real Madrid albeit young lads about to breakthrough into the first team! Still amazing what being in the Prem can do!!

I get the impression he's a left sided striker that can also roam around midfield!! lol ;-)

From what i am led to believe he was at the game last night (Morecambe) i wonder why he never got a run out?

You sure about that? I got the impression he was in Ecuador and would be meeting up with his new team mates in US

I presumed from this, The South American did not feature in Tuesday night's 3-1 victory over Morecambe that saw record signing Steven Fletcher score twice sky sports

Probably that equivocal statement had more to do with the media wanting to kill two birds with one stone and mention the friendly match in same article. I would have thought if he was around in the UK, he would be flying wiith them to the US on Thursday rather than meet up with them out there. That would be easier if hes in South America but who knows!

Maybe it's not just what getting in the Prem does for a club in terms of players wanting to join, but also how the club does it, both on and off the pitch?

If we did sign him i wonder if we will get renditions of "can you hear the Clarets Fernando"

Might the line actually be 'can you hear your fans fernando' when we sing his praises?
