'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'The Burnley FC Miscellany' by David Wiseman

A new book has been published by Clarets Author, the Reverend David Wiseman. Clarets fans may know the life-long Clarets fan from his other books on Burnley FC which include 'Up the Clarets', 'Vintage Claret' and 'A Case of Vintage Claret'

His latest work is a book entitled 'The Burnley FC Miscellany'

Burnley Football Club come from the smallest town ever to win the League Division One, and the F.A. Cup. Some big city clubs at present in the Premier League have won neither! This book is one which is mainly off the record where you can read some of the queer, quaint and quirky things that have been part of the past 125 years in Clarets history....

The publishers of the book, Breedon Publishing contacted Vital Burnley asking if we could make our posters aware of the book which of course we are very pleased to do.

We also provide below some more information about this interesting book

I wonder if David's Dad or Grandad knew my Grandad, John Welham Clarke, who was minister (if that's the correct term) at the (Bethesda?) Congregationalist Chapel on Manchester Road from 1920 to about 1924. As he was previously from Lowestoft, and only became a Claret in the great year of 20/21, this does rather make me the Grandson of a Glory Seeker! I confess to knowing more about Clarets than Congregationalists, but have looked up my Grandad in Burnley Central Library and it seems that the reason he left town was that it was an unsalaried position, and he had to take what he needed for himself and my Grandma from the weekly collection, and my uncle was born in about '24. But again I may have some of those details wrong. Anyway all good luck to David with the book. I shall seek it out.

Watch out for some competitions, the Publishers are kindly providing me with four copies of the book to give away as prizes in a competition or two
