Thursday's Rumour Mill- Out Crowd All About Alex

Falkirk manager Eddie May was looking hopeful of concluding a loan deal for Burnley youngster ,Alex MacDonald with some media reports today suggesting the 19 year old striker had already signed for the SPL club. If he has signed there has not yet been an official announcment on the Burnley FC website.

May said in the Daily Record: 'We hope the deal goes through shortly.'

MacDonald is the Scotland Under-19 captain and made six appearances for the Clarets last season all from the bench.

If the rumour is true, young Alex could be playing European football soon. He could debut for the Bairns in next week's Europa Cup tie against FC Vaduz.

Owen Coyle is thought to be keen for the youngster to gain first-team experience in order to develop his talents in a similar way that Jay Rodriguez was allowed go out on loan to Stirling Albion for the second half of 2007/08.

The loan is understood to be for six months with Alex returning to Turf Moor in the January transfer window.

This will be good for him. With all the will in the world I cant see young Alex being ready for the Prem League yet

I think this is an excellent move for Alex if it comes up. He didnt look ready ( i will give him the benefit of the doubt) to play last season in my opinion and that was at championship level. This will give him a good opportunity to get first team games (hopefully) and also give him the experience of playing in full stadiums such as Ibrox and Parkhead. Can only be a good thing in my opinion.
