26-year-old,Wigan stiker Amr Zaki appears to be interesting one of the Premier League new boys according to his agent.
Zaki's agent Nader Shawqi said:
'About the future, I can`t name any clubs for the time being but I can confirm that two French clubs offered to sign Zaki. We have an offer from one of the promoted clubs in the Premier League too.'
Shawqi though would not say whether the Premier League club was Birmingham City, Burnley or Wolverhampton Wanderers.
One of the interested French clubs is understood to be Grenoble.
Zaki is an Egyptian International who plays for Egyptian Premier League club El Zamalek.
In July 2008, Wigan Athletic completed a one-year loan deal for teh striker whioh also involved a sum of £ 1.5 million.
According to Zaki,Aston Villa put in an £11 million bid for him in the winter transfer window but it was turned down by Wigan.
Zaki told the Birmingham Mail:
'Aston Villa offered £11m to sign me in the first half of the season. However, Wigan refused to get compensation as they had hopes to sign me and let me join another club later in order to make money'
There is certainly no love lost between him and Wigan Athletic and he seems desperate to get away whilst still hoping to sign for a Premier League side.
'Wigan are not one of the top four. All they want is to buy players for cheap and then make money by selling them to other clubs later. They would never pay ridiculous amounts of cash on me.`said Zaki.
In April 2009, Zaki failed to return to Wigan from one of Egypt's World Cup qualification matches. The incident infuriated Wigan gaffer, Steve Bruce calling Zaki the most unprofessional player he had ever worked with!
'Before this latest incident, Zaki had already been fined considerably more than the average person in Britain earns in a year and he will now face another heavy fine.' said Bruce.
Zaki though has scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for Wigan but failed to score one goal in 2009 during last season.
He seems a bit of an handful and many Clarets could well be hoping its Brum or Wolves who are seeking his services and not the Clarets but an interesting link non the less!
