Yeah I know blame the Editor, bit slow on this one! Sounds a good prospect

Years ago Manchester United were known as "The White Heather Club" Is history about to repeat itself with Burnley assuming that title, I wonder ? Just imagine a future England Scotland match with half the Scottish side, registered Burnley players. O.C. would doubtless be manager of the national side though !

Good point MF, by the way is that fan as in Jimmy McIlroy or as in Sammy McIlroy?
turfmanphil
It's the incomparable of course, I was just lucky enough to see him in full mesmerising flight from about 1956 until that dreaded day in 1963.
McIlroyfan
You must have a few years on me then mate but not that many. Born in 1954, I was kind of too young to remember the great man. I remember though he played in the John Angus Testimonial in the 70s and was running rings round the young kids even then
turfmanphil
The difference [in years] Turfmanphil is the number on the great man's shirt. However, we are all looking to the future now, the nostalgia has gone on long enough.
McIlroyfan
Anyway MF, welcome to Vital Burnley, hope you enjoy it here! We have a nostalgia section for us owd uns in the forums if you are interested !

It's starting to look like we are getting linked with every young player north of the border? is it just me that thinks they all can't be that good?

I just worry about what happened to Leicester when they tried doing it under Craig Levein - but Owen is not Levein and we have to trust he knows what he was doing. Young Kev isnt bad now is he! :-)
Claretdale
Its getting a bit like CU Jimmy and Rab C Nesbitt at Turf Moor!! lol Maybe I should buy a Claret & Blue Tartan Kilt and hope it isnt windy!!
turfmanphil
Just as long as we don't end up looking like the krankees ;-)
8clarets8
..or the Bay City Rollers (if anybody remembers them dressed up in tartan)
turfmanphil
If the club shop are commercially aware they should latch on and start selling claret and blue bits and pieces with a caledonian theme. Though the thought of Phil in any kind of dress should put everyone off their porridge !!!
RickersTwickers
Might be a good cure for jock itch though! ;-)
turfmanphil
I remember the Bay City Rollers only too well, tmp. Hope the jock itch clears up soon.
