Rivals Has Gone Tits Up-New Home Here Though?

It was with great sadness that I heard that Rivals had been closed down. They may have been a rival network but they were probably also once, one of the greatest networks for football websites.

Rivals was the original choice for many fans when the network launched back in the 90's and led the way in online football messageboards. This changed though when they were taken over by sports giant Sky nearly 2 years ago.

Earlier this week the Rivals Network was taken offline with anyone trying to log on finding the short message 'Rivals.net is currently unavailable'.It has now became apparent that the network has been closed down by it's parent company and will not be returning in any form.

The Clarets site, called Claretflag will I am sure be missed by a number of it's former posters.

However,if you are reading this article and looking for a new Clarets home both the Editor and posters of Claretflag would be welcome to join Vital Burnley, the young kid on the block with modern progressive ideas and a modern design. Sorry that was the sales pitch but it is true (about to become even better too-Watch this Space!)

If the Editor is interested in a role on Vital Burnley please let me know and we can discuss business!

Sad like I say, but you have to be positive and move on so I hope any Clarets associated with Claretflag consider Vital Burnley as a potential new home and join up, you will be made very, very welcome lads and lasses!

Sad,Claretflag was not a particularly active site but some definitely were like Stoke's Oatcake. A number of fans across the former Rivals network must be gutted

Cant say I visited the site more than a couple of times so cant really comment on how popular/good it was. However, If it means that more people come to Vital - It could be of great benefit to both this site and the club.
