Demand Sees Clarets Fans in David Fishwick Stand

Burnley Football Club has announced that due to unprecedented season ticket sales 1,500 new season tickets will be made available for general sale.

Home supporters will now occupy a section of the David Fishwick Stand, which has long been reserved exclusively for the away fans at Turf Moor. These seats will be the closest seats to the James Hargreaves Stand and up to the tunnel area. Hopefully there will now be a more rousing reception for the Clarets from behind as they walk onto the pitch, with Clarets fans now competing with away fans in that stand to make more noise.

Clarets manager Owen Coyle is the champion for this initiative and wants to turn Turf Moor into a cauldron of noise on all four sides of the ground!

Coyle talking to the Official Site said:

'I have pressed long and hard for the club to release 1,500 more season tickets to ensure that the David Fishwick Stand is not taken up by 4,000 away supporters and I am absolutely delighted with this news. Last season the Clarets' supporters truly were our 12th man at Turf Moor and their backing helped us to reach the Barclays Premier League.I'm sure the extra 1,500 season tickets, plus the 15,000 we have already sold, can only help us to stay there'

Many old Clarets of a certain age like me will remember the days when the Clarets fans occupied that end before and after the current Cricket Field Stand was built but sadly over the years it has suffered from the elements and most recently from wayward parachutists landing on the roof!

Oh well those seats still look comfortable dont they?

Are the Clarets still going to have tickets available for non-season ticket holders?

16500 season ticket holders I make it, so a few thousand still left with current ground capacity for walk-ons but its not going to be like the old days is it?

Going to have to buy in advance I think. No more buying on the day.

I have bought a season ticket, I'm just hoping everybody that goes, sings and makes some noise. Thats what stoke do and we really need that too. I've been to Stoke and I didn't think they were that loud, the stadium has huge gaps and the noise escpaes. I think we can show them what a real crowd sounds like.

Amazing! Still many left when McIlroy was transferred in 63, never to return, I wonder how many regret that in their dotage? Mind you that was a more passionate cause than having a seat behind goal taken away from you

I sat in the Cricket field when i had a season ticket with my dad after we got promoted from the 4th. I have to the Bob Lord was by far more uncomfortable yer knees up to yer chin when we when in there for reserve games. I never agred with the whole thing being for away fans. 150 fans in a 4k stand is just WRONG!
