Rumour Mills!!- Doncaster's Matt?

Clarets boss Owen Coyle could be about to compete with Cardiff to sign highly-rated Doncaster defender Matt Mills.

It is believed the player is rated at about £2.5 million according to the Daily Star

The 22 year old is a former England Under 21 International and started his professional career with Southampton in 2003. Loan spells followed at Coventry and Bournemouth before he signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Manchester City in January 2006.

The Swindon-born defender then had a loan spell at Colchester United signing in January 2007 before returning in April of that year.

He then joined Doncaster Rovers on loan in August 2007 for six monthx linking up with manager Sean O'Driscoll for the second time in his career. Although he returned early in November he was eventually signed on a season long loan.

In July 2008 Rovers paid £300,000 for his services thus smashing the club's transfer record and he has since made 41 appearances for the club.

The player has attracted interest from Birmingham and Nottingham Forest recently and they were understood to be about to make bids. Cardiff City were also reported to be interested now that they are seeking a replacement for Roger Johnson who has since moved to Birmingham.

Cant see their being anything in this one to be honest. As I keep saying on nearly all threads - We have to be a little careful that we dont just sign under 23's!
