Tudgay Interested in Move to Turf Moor

Tudgay Interested in Move to Turf Moor

The Sunday papers suggested at the weekend that Owen Coyle wass keen on bringing 26 year old Sheffield Wednesday striker Marcus Tudgay to Turf Moor and that the Clarets may have already put in a bit of £1.75 million. This was despite the fact he was understood to have accepted a new three year contract for the Owls although still hadn't appeared to have signed it.

According to Sheffield Wednesday gaffer, Brian Laws speaking to the Yorkshire Post:

'Marcus (Tudgay) agreed terms on a new three-year deal some weeks ago and I expect that to be signed in the next few days,'

This one though is not over by any means according to skysports.com today

Tudgay's agent Darryl Powell today says the Owls striker would be willing to discuss a move to Turf Moor.

'Everything has not been agreed. If an opportunity arises, Marcus would like to speak to Burnley. That is nothing against Sheffield Wednesday - which is a fantastic football club - but when a Premier League club shows interest, you want to take a look.'

One person who is claearly not happy is Brian Laws after accusing Burnley FC of trying to 'unsettle' the player.

'This is a desperate move by Burnley to unsettle the player.I have spoken to Owen Coyle and I have stressed that it would take a damned sight more money than has been quoted to prise him away.'

The news though that Tudgay hasn't actually signed any contract extensions is bound to make everyone at Hillsborough somewhat nervous including the fans. He was supposed to have officially signed the new contract after returning from holiday at the end of May but he hasn't and Burnley FC could be the ones to now take advantage.

It would be interesting if we do pursue this now having got Fletcher?I hope so as this lad gives us options both on the wing and upfront.

He would add that bit more quality which would help. I'd really like to see a left back and centre back though.

Oh, how the tune changes! Could it be that him not having in fact signed a contract is making you nervous? I live and work in/near Sheffield, and a sensible SWFC fan said, and I quote, "You could do a lot worse."

He'll stay, you'll enjoy your year in the sun, don't spend the premiership wealth too quickly, look how many former premiership clubs are broke and in the 3rd division. Good luck.

Coyle needs to stop smoking the weed and maybe should think of becoming a comedian because his offer of £1.5mil was pure comedy genius.
