"It feels great to be a Burnley player, I came back early from holiday to speak to the manager which was very important for me," Mears told the Clarets official website.

"I liked what I heard from him and it was quite an easy decision to make. The manager showed a really keen interest in me"

Owen Coyle said the following about his new signing:

"We are delighted to get Tyrone. He is a player with real pace and we have been looking for that in the full back areas. He is hungry, still relatively young and desperate to do well."
