Tyrone Mears Signs In First Summer Transfer

Owen Coyle has completed his first signing of the summer, with the official news that Rams defender Tyrone Mears is now a Claret and will wear Shirt No 14.

The Clarets have agreed a fee of about £500,000 for the 26-year-old.He has signed a three-year deal at Turf Moor.

"It feels great to be a Burnley player, I came back early from holiday to speak to the manager which was very important for me," Mears told the Clarets official website.

"I liked what I heard from him and it was quite an easy decision to make. The manager showed a really keen interest in me"

Owen Coyle said the following about his new signing:

"We are delighted to get Tyrone. He is a player with real pace and we have been looking for that in the full back areas.He is hungry, still relatively young and desperate to do well."

On the cards this one but we also just smashed the record transfer fee and got Hibs striker, Fletcher for £3 million

All looking good to me :-) the new season suddenly seems twice as far away!

I said earlier gives us some much needed pace at full back. Oooooh its getting exciting.
