Mears Almost A Claret

Derby defender, Tyrone Mears looks set to become the Clarets first signing of the summer with Sky Sports stating that the signing will officially be announced by the club within the next 24 hours.

The former Hammers and Preston full back spent last season on loan at Marseille and is now understood to have accepted a three-year deal at Turf Moor for an undisclosed fee.

Mears agent, Willie McKay, speaking to Sky Sports confirmed that a a deal had been finalised:

'Tyrone Mears has agreed personal terms and passed a medical at Burnley,' McKay told skysports.com.

'He has agreed a three-year deal and he should be unveiled in the next 24 hours. Tyrone really enjoyed his time at Marseille, but he could not turn down the chance to return to England with Burnley.He is really excited by the move and is looking forward to helping Burnley in their first season in the Premier League.'

I think he could turn out to be a better signing than Jacobson who is now Blackburn bound!
