Chester to Face a Burnley XI

A Burnley FC XI will face Chester City at the Deva Stadium in a pre-season friendly on Thursday, July 30 (kick off at 7.45pm.

The Clarets side will comprise of some first team players mixed with youth team players.

A 2-1 home defeat by Darlington on the final day of the season sealed Chester's fate, confirming relegation and a return to non-league football after five years back in The Football League.

It then got worse for the club when two weeks after the final match the club entered administration leading to a probable points deduction from the start of the 2009-10 season.

The Club have also announced that there will be more friendly announcements next week and Clarets fans are still probably hoping that better opposition from maybe the Championship if not the Premier League can be sorted out considering the tough challenge ahead in our first season in the top flight since 1976.

Odd choice, wonder if this has been agreed to help out Chester a bit financially?

Prob right there TMP, I'm wondering if we will play Accy Stanley (thats if there will be an Accy Stanley), its usually a good day out a good drink in the Crown before going on the game

I suspect Accy will also be in the mix but we need a Prem club I reckon like a Bolton or Wigan or at least say one of the relegated teams eg Newcastle
