Gabor Kiraly has joined German side TSV 1860 Munich after being released by the Clarets this week.
He recently spent time on loan in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen and will be returning to the country after signing a three year contract with TSV 1860 Munich.
The 33-year-old Hungary international had this to say about the move:
"The club has huge potential and great fans, as well as the prospect of reaching the Bundesliga," he told Bild.
"I have played or trained every day for the last 16 years. That`s why I wanted a new challenge this year. I played for Hertha Berlin the Champions League and in The Premier League in England and played like I could climb to the peak of a mountain. I`m at full fitness now and, with 1860, I hope to go to the top of the mountain again."
The keeper fell out of favour at Turf Moor at the beginning of the 2008-9 season and was demoted to third-string goalkeeper with the arrival of Diego Penny. It was made plain he did not feature in Coyle's plans for the future and that the club would be open to offers. There was plenty of rumoured links but he didn't actually leave until January 2009 when he signed on loan with Bayer Leverkusen.
Kiraly was signed by Steve Cotterill in May 2007 after being released by Crystal Palace and made 27 appearances for the club.
There was wide specualtion that Kiraly was also one of biggest salary earners, reported to be on £11,000/week. His departure therefore will be a significant financial benefit to the club and for Clarets fans no longer will we be subject to those quirky grey slacks he always wore on match day!
Good luck Gabor, sorry it never really worked out for you at Turf Moor. I call it the Beast factor, he is determined to be number one keeper even if he dont wear the No 1 shirt!
