Coyle's Ins and Outs!

Three players out-of-contract have been released by the club.

It comes as no surprise that Steve Jones and Gabor Kiraly have been released after spending most of the season out on loan and never appearing to be in Owen Coyle's long term plans. Gabor Kiraly was demoted to our third string goalkeeper and it will be a relief to now have got the high salary player off the books. Kiraly has not made a first team appearance this season for the Clarets and completed a loan move to German side Bayer Leverkusen in January 2009. Steve Jones has also been out on loan in his case to Bradford City signing for them in November 2008 for the remainder of the Bantams season.

The release of Alan Mahon is not a complete shock but some may have hoped he would be kept in the squad for our first season in the top flight since 1976. He has however only come on from the substitutes's bench this campaign for the Clarets making eight appearances and had a loan spell at Blackpool towards the end of the season.

Two of our first team youngsters though have been offered new contracts. Alex MacDonald has been offered a new two-year deal.

Adam Kay too will get at least one more season at Turf Moor having been offered a one-year contract. Kay recently returned from a loan spell at Accrington Stanley and he may have joined them on a permanent basis had Coyle not provided a new offer.

Clarets fans will be delighted also that 37 year old, Graham Alexander has also been given a new contract after an astonishing season in which he played in all 61 Clarets games in addition to winning numerous Player of the Year Awards by the Players and Supporters Clubs. Grezza has been offered a new one-year deal at Turf Moor.

Probably no surprises there!

No, noe for me. What worries me is that we are on about making only 2-3 signings, and yet we have just let 3 go, and Ade makes 4 - that means we will have an even smaller squad. Surely that can't work. Unless, of course, the 2-3 doesn't include long-term loans, of which I would like us to get another 2-3 - Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc?

they must be gutted to have celebrated and now be on the point of history!

I am a little surprised with Alex Mac being offered a 2 year contract. I know he is young and has only played in short spells, but I havent seen anything to suggest he has what it takes - especially as a Premier League player. Still, I hope to be proved wrong!
Claretdale
Obviously rated by both Burnley & Scotland! Has to break through somehow in 2009/10 though and in top flight! Can Alex do it? Thing that struck me was we had 5 young guns who have just signed up professional too, what chance the likes of Wes and the rest making it?

Great to see Grezza get another year - Preston fans must be gutted that they wouldn't give him a two year deal now. He used to play in white !

I guess we are going to have to be patient for bigger news, but it's perhaps a good thing that we are getting some signings who can keep the reserve team going strong without having to draw on the youths so much. I am also sure that Coyle will be saying to anyone in the reserves that they'll maybe get a chance if they work hard. Picking up on RT's point about folk who must be revisiting their decisions... poor old Andy Gray. Is there one of those smiley faces that Barnsey often uses that has a smirk?

What about Remco - has anyone any idea if he is coming back...or whether he actually exists ?
RickersTwickers
I have to agree with RT my brother in law is a Preston fan and all he says why did we let him go (grezza) their loss lol

I was asking my danish friend hows Remco doing he told me we can gladly have him back after they got beat 4-0 fc Copenhagen to lose the title, My only suprise is that Remco & Berisha weren't on the list as niether have featured much for us.

Intersting to see that Real Madrid are close to spending the near equivalent of our 60 million windfall on Kaka!

This transfer window will be key to Coyle and Burnley's survival next season. I am visiting to see what plans are afoot. Maybe I should come back next week.

Can't wait for the signings to start and the transfer window to open. Sick of all the rumours that are going round. The best one I have heard is Coyle is on holiday in the villa of the Celtic chairman.

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee is the new favourite to take over Celtic boss, with the odds tumbling on him succeeding Gordon Strachan. (Various, 1830 pm 5th June). Bloody wish they would sort this out before Coyle gets back!
