Owen Coyle will be staying as the manager at Burnley after strong links in the media this week suggested he would be joining Celtic, the club he supported as a child.
Coyle was reported to be the first-choice replacement for Gordon Strachan and indeed some in the media were suggesting he would be Celtic's manager by the end of the week despite Burnley FC stating that no official approach had been made.
It looks like the Clarets gaffer has now spurned the SPL and prefers instead to lead a team in the top league in Europe following Burnley's promotion to the Premier League.
Last night on the Official Burnley website Coyle said:
'There has been no approach to Burnley Football Club.It is people simply putting two and two together and making five.I am going on holiday with my family this weekend and I can assure you I will be doing so as Burnley manager.'
Thank you God/Owen!! This seems a logical decision to me and I am glad for once money has not tempted a manager out of his contract.
The Daily Mirror today believes Coyle could have quadrupled his wages with a move to Glasgow but is also stating that he is set to be soon rewarded with a massive pay rise at Turf Moor. So he should after what he has done for this club!
Update:
Owen Coyle has now gone one stage further today and said on the Official Burnley Site:
"All I would say is the same I have said from day one; I am fully committed to the job in hand at Burnley Football Club.We have an unbelievable adventure ahead of us and we want to make sure that when the season kicks off we do our ultimate to stay in the best division in the world.I am so excited at the challenge and prospect of pitting our Burnley side against the best."
