Vital Burnley Launch Special Wembley Forum

The big day is getting close. The day when the Clarets face Sheffield United at Wembley in the Championship Play-Offs Final and have a chance to be in the top flight for the first time since 1976. That day is Spring Bank Holiday Monday 25th May 2009 and already the clamour for tickets has begun and questions are being raised.

The last time we were at Wembley was back in 1994 when Jimmy Mullens's side defeated Stockport County in the Second Division (League 1) play-offs final. A lot has changed since then including the fact that the old stadium has long since been demolished and replaced by a brand spanking new one so the Clarets will be playing at the new Wembley for the first time in their history.

A number of our posters have been asking questions about the big day. There are lots of things to sort out, the process for obtaining Wembley tickets, travel and car-parking arrangements, information about Wembley itself and of course the most important of them all, where are we going to meet for pre-match drinky poos?

In addition to asking for information and providing the detail, posters are of course keen to discuss the match in all it's aspects and have a bit of fun predicting the result.

Vital Burnley therefore have decided to lauunch a Special Wembley Forum so our posters will be able to access all things Wembley in the same place.

The forum is called Wembley Matchday Mayhem and can be entered by clicking this direct link:

Wembley Matchday Mayhem Link

The forum is packed with useful tips and information and is a place where you can raise any questions. Vital Burnley admin will try and answer your questions if we can.

Also in the forum is a thread where Clarets fans and Blades fans can enter into banter about the fast approaching Wembley clash. The thread is a sticky entitled The Great Que Sera Sera Thread!-Clarets v Blades @Wembley. There is also a facility for Clarets fans to have a bit of fun and predict the outcome of the match.

So come on you Clarets fans what are you waiting for, come and have some fun as we prepare for the big day!

Clear your desks. Don't cut the grass. Try to remember to eat. Gather the family round. Get on the Wembley Mayhem Matchday Link and make some noise!
Couch Potato
Come on Burnley another claret and blue team would be very nice in the prem. Plus your side is the best outside the prem and play good football unlike those d1cks from Sheffield. Make sure u take a neck brace to the final they just smash everthing long. Good luck guys!!!!!
SHOE HAMMER
Cheers SH! Aye would be good to play West Ham again, always thought our two sides over the years from the 70s to recent times have continually produced entertaining, attacking games in the clash of the Claret&Blue
turfmanphil
It's going to snowball from here, I hope! :-)
BarnseyWTBM
shoe hammer you really are a prize ---c o c k---e n d!! --- can't wait to play you next season, all the cheating cockney's scattered all over the pavements like little piggys!! + you will always play second fiddle to millwall!! end of!! UP THE BLADES!!
bladesforlife1889
Naw I think we will have to keep West Ham and Blades fans separate in different divisions, we dont want a riot! lol ;-)
turfmanphil
don't worry turfmanphil west sham will be in the championship next season - they are in so much debt its untrue. typical of a shammy run club!! looking forward to wembley, really confident, and if we play like we all know we are capable of doing we should come out comfortable winners. a club the size of sheff utd should be in the premiership at the end of the day - but what we must ensure we don't do is underestimate burnley otherwise disaster will strike. again congratulations on a awsome season - we expected to be in this position but bet you guys didn't?
bladesforlife1889
You also expected to get automatic promotion I bet as well till we made it hard work for you at Turf Moor
turfmanphil
like i said turfmanphil you guys have had an amazing season credit where credit is due. I think its great when teams like burnley get to where they are. we were shocking at turf moor, the worst we have played this season and yes we all espected automatic promotion especially with birmingham & reading fighting it out. it going to be a good game but i really do think we will be too much for you guys - but you never know. (on the big occasions we crumble and have done everytime) don't like the fact that everyone is labelling us the favourites - that tag always bites you in the ass - and is music to your ears!!
bladesforlife1889
How are you guys finding it getting a ticket? we are currently having a nightmare - take a look at our forum for details but is mainly with the issue of 1 ticket per season ticket and ST points not being put onto cards. bloody shocking. we would have sold out by now if they had not messed up like this. why do they make it hard? + why is your most expensive ticket 74 and ours is 98???????
bladesforlife1889
Tickets are a nightmare, I'm personally lucky, ordered via Ticket Zone on Thursday but still bricking it waiting for tickets in post to arrive. Massive queues at Turf Moor, glory hunters getting tickets ahead of fans who have braved all weathers this season, Ticket Zone sellling out,TZ phone lines not answering and club lines busy all day. 94 was for Club Wembley Tickets (sold out in first day),74 for category 1,now also sold out (Clarets end)
turfmanphil
By the way Clarets Season Ticket holders are allowed maximum of 3 tickets
turfmanphil
jesus christ!!! its absolutely crazy. we would have sold out if they let ST holders have 2 per ST. nothing worse than the 1 match a season glory hunters. going by our website we have sold 27,000 so far. with 12 days to go we will sell out - just hoping that we get more allocated!!
bladesforlife1889
the fact that they are also selling blocks first is so annoying resulting in blades fans taking them back the next day when other blocks go on sale to get them swapped!! never known such a farce!! they will all wonder why when the attendance is 60,000 and there is 30,000 spare seats!!
bladesforlife1889
we do have 20,000 ST holders though so suppose if this was the case they would never go on general sale. but they would allocate more tickets 17,000 spare who are they been allocated to apart from the obvious. it just all gets me so made especially when you go to plymouth, ipswich and qpr on a tues night and you still get stung with ticket issues for the big games!!
bladesforlife1889
Sounds like there are a load of cheesed off fans then on both sides of the Pennines. Chaos!
turfmanphil
not kidding turfman is absolutely unaccepatable!!
bladesforlife1889
Heh BFL1889 have any Blades fans living around Burnley been refused tickets via general sale? We have a lot of Clarets living in the Sheffield area who have been denied tickets via TZ because they have Sheffield post codes. How ridiculous!
turfmanphil
well if there have a history of going to burnley matches as they should on the ticket office system those people will have no problems at all. i have heard a few rumours that if we sell out and no more tickets are allocated to us then people will buy tickets in the burnley end. i just can't understand why our ticketing policy is as bad as it is. we have brilliant support and could fill wembley twice over but this stupid system is putting fans off.
bladesforlife1889
or yeh our ticket prices are more too. your 74 are 98 for us exactlly the same seats but opposite ends of the ground. absolute joke.
bladesforlife1889
come on burnley
mick66owl
Yes turfmanphil the pigs have got 20,000 s.t holders but what the pig has'nt told you is for every adult with a kid under the age of 14 get a season ticket free, so really they've only got about 12 or 13 thousand paying s.t holders, thats why pigforlife is moaning cause he's only six years old and for the first time this season he's actually got to pay to see a match along with thousands of other pigs. COME ON YOU CLARET & BLUES the Wednesday are with you.
ecco owl
ha ha luv it - THE POOR RELATIONS ARE JEALOUS TO DEATH!! they have to come on here to make themselves feel better. 30m+ crumbling debt, ground thats falling down and now the small club is copying all that of the citys big brother!!
bladesforlife1889
BT THE WAY - AS OF 11:00AM THIS MORNING WE HAVE NOW SOLD OUR FULL ALLOCATION OF 37,000 TICKETS FOR WEMBLEY. APPARANTELY WE ARE TRYING TO SOURCE ANOTHER 10,000 BY TOMORROW MORNING!! COME ON YOU PREMIERSHIP BLADES!!!
bladesforlife1889
Suggest you come and debate all this in our special Wembley Matchday Mayhem forum-Link as in article above
turfmanphil
Sorry turfmanphil but the pig started it, making out that burnley are inferior to the pigs, all i say is just play football, they won't have a clue, lets hope you do the treble over them. COME ON BURNLEY!!!
ecco owl
ecco-pig you sack of nobness!!
bladesforlife1889
Guys Guys Guys take a chill pill ffs i love it when rival fans have passion it gives us Burnley fans more focus on which route we should be taking to Anfield next season? Should we take the M1 or A1 to Arsenal and Chelsea next season? Already got my routes planned ;-)
8clarets8
We have also 8c8 been practiscing visiting these grounds-Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal (and nearly WBA) lol
turfmanphil
Thank god Vital Preston is a fairly dead site without an editor at the moment! lol
turfmanphil
Posted on Official Blades Site yesterday:Play-Off Final - ticket latest - 6pm Tuesday Posted on: Tue 19 May 2009 Championship Play Off Final Monday 25th May 2009, Kick Off 3.00pm The Blades have today received an extra 500 tickets from the Football League for Monday's Championship Play Off final. A small number of seats together are now available in the 62 and 34 price brackets. 1500 seats remain in the Club Wembley section priced at 98 and single seats also remain in the 50 price band.
turfmanphil
An interesting one that tmp Preston with no editor! the Vital sites you would think would have plenty of posters have very little and the ones you would think would have none turn out to out to have plenty
8clarets8
We are 8th in the Vital Champs league at the moment which I think is pretty good going considering the competition. We used to be 15th!!
turfmanphil
Interestingly i just compared us if we were in the Prem we would be 9th one in front of B******* Rovers on 10th ;-)
8clarets8
How much more do we have to post to climb the table?
Couch Potato
Well put it this way, if we can increase hits 5 times, I could be giving the club 1000/quarter or 4000/year (via Clarets Trust buying BFC shares) and if we did that we would be 8th out of 134 clubs covered on the Vital Network
turfmanphil
Is that worth reporting as a headline story? Yes, you have said such things before. But if there's a new angle to headline, it's worth driving the point home, isn't it?
Couch Potato
Did refer to it in an article in the past but have something planned for close season once we know where we stand after Wembley. In the mean time if everybody on here could invite 5 Clarets chums who like online chatting about Burnley and get them to register/use VB, we could be well on our way
turfmanphil
good luck in the final , may the best team win .
Kimbo
yes but guys you have the most editors on this site that i've seen in my life!!
bladesforlife1889
Cheers Kimbo, that would be us then! ;-)
turfmanphil
It's called teamwork, BfL1889. Its running throughout club and community, and it works. Our matchday programme won an award. Our fanzine was up for an award. Our reserves won their league. Our youth were runners up in league and Lancs Cup. And so on...
Couch Potato
mmmmmmmm we seem to win everything in our local area also. its guna be a good game and it's deffinately squeeky bums time for all of us!! as far as im aware we have sold 37,000 tickets. the other 500 were made available due to the fact that our most expensive tickets were priced at 98 yours were 74. around 500 98 tickets are unsold due to sheer fact that its far far to expensive for the normal football fan. this has to be the worst ticketing policy ive ever seen at the lane - ever!!
bladesforlife1889
good luck guys but deffinately not for monday - UP THE BLADES!!
bladesforlife1889
The 98 tickets were for CLUB WEMBLEY, we sold out of those in the first day or so! Look at a map of Wembley and you will see the price categories, the next one down is Category 1 @ 74
turfmanphil
Someone I know has worked out going to Wembley there will be about 6,000 fans on coaches and 4,000 in cars and 26,000 on the bandwagon!!!
sheclaret
Brillo that sheclaret! ;-)
turfmanphil
I know a lot of people going down who could not get a ticket just to soak up the atmosphere and watch it in the pubs around Wembley!
8clarets8
Not a bad idea that 8c8.
turfmanphil
Just want to say good luck on Monday as an OWL fan i hope you beat the pigs. COME ON YOU CLARETS!
ThatchamOwl
Cheers, ThatchamOwl!
turfmanphil
ha ha another jealous nob!!
bladesforlife1889
Nice to see so many Honorary Clarets supporting us at Wembley!
turfmanphil
Good luck to the clarets from a ManCity Fan. Hope you do it if only because it would ***** of the Blackburn fans so much! Hope we see you in the Prem next season.
fifthcolumnblue
Cheers mate, will be good to play City again after all these years. (plenty of northern clubs up in the top flight)
