No Need to Worry About Preston!

Sheffield United beat Preston 1-0 tonight(2-1 on aggregate) in the second leg of the play-offs semi-final at Bramall Lane. A goal by Greg Halford in the second half was enough to secure victory and see the Blades book a place in the Play-Offs Final at Wembley on Spring Bank Holday Monday 25th May.

The big question now of course is whether the Blades will be playing Reading or as we all hope the Clarets.

We will all know by tomorrow night after the second leg between Reading and Burnley at the Madejski Stadium in the other play-offs semi-final. The Clarets have the advantage taking a 1-0 lead from the first leg and only need a draw to qualify for the final at Wembley.

If we do get through, the Clarets will be facing a team that we have beaten both home and away this season in the Championship.

Let's hope we both get to Wembley and then defeat the Blades for the third time this season!

In a way, I am glad about this, I am not sure my nerves could stand playing the Nobbers at Wembley! If we dont make it now,it will still be heartbreak but not as much if Preston went up!!

I agree. Also we would be left in isolation as the longest serving member of the division if PNE did go up. Now we can either jointly make that claim, or let them be the Championship old lags. But well done to them for getting Cardiff out of the way! The way Cardiff missed out was even worse than our 2002 experience, unless a 3-1 loss at Grimsby is considered worse than 6-0 at Deepdale to the team that eventually pipped them by the same single goal that denied our heroes of 200.
